Oh my <insert favorite deity here> ! *I just played a slew of Martins, Taylors and Larrivees @ Guitar Center. *This has completely blown my frame of reference for what an acoustic can feel and sound like!! *The notes barely need to be touched to be heard. *I liken it to the first time I played a Jem7VWH after banging around on an old Kramer Pacer. *Wow was my reaction both times.

The one that impressed me most was a Larivee Mahogany bodied cutaway. * It was listed at around $1700......about mid priced of the ones I tried out. *I couldn't believe how rough the pimply-faced shaved-monkey was handling these guitars. *Banging them around, tossing them on stands, chunking headstocks against other hanging guitars. *These are $2000 guitars he's treating like yard sale items!! *I felt sorry for the guitars! *But I digress.......

I think, for me, that Mahogany bodies are the unplugged tone I'm looking for. *My ears liked the Seagull Mahogany and now the Larrivee Mahogany. *I don't plan on gigging with it so amplified sound is not a huge selling point.

GAS is building and all logic in the head is becoming blurry......
......"I don't think I'm in Kansas anymore."

Seagulls are great for the money. Otherwise I would go for a Taylor 410 or 810. Both very nice guitars

I forth or was it fifth.... *agree that Seagulls are great for the money but I know yamaha has a great sound. I also know out of the many nylon spanish style accoustics they make some of the wide neck styles have carried over to the regular accoustics. Try looking at a used one around your $600 range and I think you might like what you find. The new ones are a bit over priced which I fully agree with. Either way I'd really be interested in seeing which one you end up with if you have time E-mail me or make a new post so we can all see which choice you went with, best of luck. * Riff

I may be a little late...but here goes. *If you like the Martins but can't afford the real deal, then check around for a Sigma (made by Martin). *I've got one and I absolutely love it. *Real fat tone, not twangy like a Yamaha. *You can usually find them in your local pawn shop for about $100.

I'd take a Seagull anyday. In fact, any Canadian made acoustic. My Simon & Patrick 12 string is awesome.
I've heard that S & P, Segull and Godin come from the same manufacturers. *Anyone else heard this?
