Do you mean between the two? The neck profiles could be different. And I believe the Ltd Laiho has an
ebony fingerboard
, so that may be to more of your liking compared to rosewood on the Rhoads. Also, the Laiho has only one pickup and it's an EMG HZ (which isn't exactly the best passives out there). The Rhoads comes with real Duncans. IMHO the North American Laiho body style looks like ****, so the Rhoads is actually closer in terms of body style to what Laiho is actually playing.

Re: Alexi Laiho LTD/ESP?
It looks far too gimmicky for my liking, even if it might play nicely. I wouldn't waste my money on a
signature guitar
unless you could get a variety of tones from it (e.g. Jems, JSes, PGMs, and maybe ATMs).

Re: Alexi Laiho LTD/ESP?
The only problem with this guitar is that it is going to be really limited in sounds. You're basically only going to be able to get the COB sound, and I would recommend a gain booster, just like he uses. EMG HZ's don't sound all that bad, but Alexi uses a gain booster, that's why he uses this particular pickup.
Also, ESP build some really really good guitars. Really good. You're going to have one killer playing, but very singular sounding, guitar with this model.

Re: Alexi Laiho LTD/ESP?
I grew up in the 80's and love the 80's, however, I think, now the guitars from that decade are lame, accept Ibanez's. I would never buy any other guitar from that time-frame accept an Ibanez. I think some guitars are cool from all their eras to present, Fender, Gibson, PRS, Ovation, & Ibanez. There are bands like Korn and other heavy bands playing Ibanez (that is cool), when I see them play a Jackson, looks lame and outdated.

It depends. It isn't worth the buy for me, even for the LTD model.

you are comparing apples and oranges here ESP and the LTD have different features since LTD is lower end, same goes for the Jackson Randy Rhoads the only ones that come with original
Seymour Duncans
and OFR are the American made axes and they will cost you well over a grand used, perhaps less if you are lucky in the bay, the ESP Laiho has has almost the same specs that the lower end LTD has but do not be fooled this LTD is really well made and it plays killer and in my eyes it's a good buy if you can get one for $500-800 and I have seen them in the bay for that much. take a look at the specs and compare:
