They show up pretty often dude, it's cool.

I never liked the floyd copy on my aes100 which is similar to the scoop

I read somewhere that that design was the result of the luthier accidentally making that redical cut and then trying to pass it off his original idea. Not sure if its true or not.

Re: Alvarez Dana Scoop hahah remember those...

Wow... that's a flash back... the store where I took guitar lessons in 8th grade (like 18 years ago) was an Alvarez dealer, and they had a steady supply of Scoops when I was just learning how to play. I remember wanting one of 'em pretty badly at the time, and test driving one just about every time I was in the store. In the end I never got my Alvarez... got a second-hand Washburn... and pretty much forgot about the Scoops until now.

Wasn't part of the theory behind the big cutaway that the neck & body were supposed to vibrate/resonate at different frequencies, so having the big cutout allowed both parts to vibrate naturally? I could've sworn that was in the catalog somewhere.

Ya know, it always seemed people either loved or hated the scoop. He's a killer guitar man, though. He's worked on quite a few of mine. He just made a few custom pickguards for one of my Phantoms and they turned out great ! If you're ever in Delaware, stop into D&S Music. Dana, Dave, and Stevie are cool as hell and really know their stuff.

I saw one of these at the guitar shop a couple months ago! It had a graphite/fiberglass neck. It actually played pretty good. I miss the 80's.
