Andreas Guitars -- any info? Worth it?

Hey y'all!

I found an Andreas guitar for cheap in a shop in Taiwan, under 1000 USD. Can't seem to find it on the website, but I recall having seen a pic of it before. I think it's the "blue shark" model:

Blue stained body
Aluminum fretboard
Silver pickups

Any info on these? Would this be a good catch?
Thanks,
Eric

As far as I'm aware these things retail for 3-4 timest that price new, so you might as well take a chance.
If you don't like it there's always evilbay.

And an aluminium (aluminum to some of you) fretboard sounds cool.

Really, 3-4 times as much? I looked on the net and saw something prices no higher than 1500 USD. But there is really not much info on them around. Any more info or advice from anybody? I'm leaving Taiwan on Friday, so I still have a couple of days to decide...

Ed Roman doesn't like 'em, so I'm guessing they're probably decent guitars. Definitely interesting and interesting concept

Ok, just did the conversion, the list seems to be around $1700-$2200 for the blue shark, seems like a good price for a high quality guitar...

There is one of those hanging in a local shop...had been for a couple years. It has a cool feel, good tone, and seems to be well made. I think the fret board is aluminum?

my bad.
For some reason the pricess stuck in my head were Australian $ -> and the $ had me confused.
Most people are raving about them so if you like how it plays and how it sounds.....
Do you actualy have time to play all your guitars?

Dex, your question is unfortunately spot on... I try to play my babies as much as possible... But due to space, I can't have more than 20-25 guitars out at one time! I keep telling myself that I'll sell this and that one that I never play, but never really get around to it. Although this month I did manage to sell both my Chromeboys and a Steinberger, I quickly made up for it by buying another two Steinbergers and another Ibanez! I am sick...

Anyhow, I went ahead and bought the Blue Shark. I am quite happy so far, although I only got it about 8 hours ago. It does play quite nicely and the looks are pretty cool! Really, I think my penchant for Steinbergers and this guitar is the fact that they look so radical and different. not "oh look, another Str*t..." but a Chromeboy or a JSCP or this one with the silver all over it!

There was another one hanging in the shop in matte black, as opposed to the transparent matte blue stain I got. It looked really cool and felt almost like a hard rubber finish. Very cool indeed!

Well it's supposed to be handmade, has dimarzios in it and looks cool, plus it has an aluminium fretboard.
I'd try one out........if I ever saw one that is.
Have to make tracks to PercyPriors and check them out.

For someone as guitar wealthy as you are (once you said you have over 40) finding mp3's of your work is incredably hard.
I didn't have any luck.
I did manage to find a photo of you and 2 other people goofing around at a pub/coffe house in Sofia, BG - which is where I'm from.

post or pm me a link with some of your work.

cheers

ilia

p.s. do let us know what you think of the Andreas after you play around with it.

Sorry dex, I will have to disappoint you there. I'm really not one to toot my own horn when it comes to my own stuff...

Putting up MP3's of my stuff is not really something I have ever wanted to do. I do a fair amount of studio work for other people. This means arranging, production and playing. I have never been interested in ever putting out my own stuff.

As for the guitar collection... I regret to inform that it's actually swelled to 60 or so... But that doesn't mean that anyone can play, though!
