Another New Gear Thread
Went a little gear crazy this weekend, probably will do it again next weekend, but for now here is the guitar related part of it.
1)Edwards "Keith Richards" Telecaster - bought it from the bay a little bit ago, just getting around to taking pics. I bought it used, the set up sucked, the pickup was messed with, but all in all its a nice guitar. Typical Edwards appointments, Duncans, blah blah blah. The thing is heavy, heavier than most of the Les Pauls I've owned. The relic job is God awful though. a lot of the wear is painted on, if you run your finger over the scratches, you dont feel anything, and the back of the neck isn't relic'd at all. Still Fender only makes this guitar for the Japanese market, and I haven't had any luck finding one, Ishibashi won't ship Japanese market Fenders, so this was the next best thing.
2) Mesa Lonestar Special and 1X12 extension cab. This amp may change my opinion about Mesa. It sounds awesome and doesn't do the Recto thing at all. I got the 1X12 extension as part of the trade, I'm not sure if I will keep it or not, but for now it makes a nice amp stand and it could come in handy if I ever play out with this amp. I may look into building a new cab for the combo because the black tolex doesn;t do much for me, and the amp smells like stale cigarette smoke, it actually is the first thing I notice now when I walk into the guitar room.

Those Plus' are such awesome Strats. I kind of want another blue one like mine, but with a maple board. I'm not sure if I told you, I think mine needs a new neck. I doubt Fender has any laying around, so I'm not sure what Im going to do about it. It's still playable, but when I took it in for a setup, the guy said the truss rod was maxed out and it needed an adjustment. My usual tech said that the location of the adjustment rod, the rosewood board, and the truss rod maxed out, a heat treatment probably wouldnt work. I think mine is cursed.
First there was the neck, then when I pulled the lace sensors, my middle Hot Noiseless was doa, then when I took it in to get diagnosed the guy wired my re-volume control wrong so it doesn't work, then I put my strap on the strap lock pegs and now its stuck on the bridge side pin. In addition to all that I traded my number 1 LP for it.

Re: Another New Gear Thread
Yes, they are man. My two new ones are a 91' and 95' Plus deluxe. The 95 came with dimarizo virtual vintage pups in it but the org red/silver/blue with intact lettering came with the guitar. I am not really digging the pups in the 95 so when I get around to it I am going to put the stock lace pups back in. The 91 is all stock I think as I have not removed the pickguard. Here are two pics that are not my pics but the seller pics.

Re: Another New Gear Thread
Is that 91 a trans blue? Fender needs to be cool guys and reissue those.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the bridge on mine is messed up too.the block doesnt line up with the top of the bridge, so you cant screw the arm in. I don't really ever use the trem anyway, but it bums me out that I kind of got taken.

Re: Another New Gear Thread
Yes the 91 is Trans Blue.
I had the same line up problem on my first Strat Plus but the bar just went in at an angle. That first one was my first strat and I didn't know about the springs that went in the hole and didn't like the arm so I got a Fender Floyd to replace it with a pop in arm.
One that site there is a used plus neck for sale and you could always get a good bridge with pop in arm for around 40-50 bucks.

Re: Another New Gear Thread
I keep meaning to look into a new bridge, but for all I play the strat it keeps getting put on the back burner. I'll probably get something with a piezzo pickup in it when I get around to it, I just don't want to lose a tone knob.

Nice Tele .... got my first ever Tele recently, could kick my own arse for all those missing years.
Isn't six strings too many for a Keef guitar?
