Any Carvin DC135 owners?

I've been an Ibanez player for years now and I'm starting to look for other brands now that I now what kind of specs to look for on a guitar.

Carvin guitars always stun me about how nice they look and most people who own them seem to love them. I found a used DC135T model over here that seems to be exactly what I'm after specwise:

Beautiful ain't she?

I'm concerned about 2 things thouhgh: price and neck profile.

The guy is asking 700euros. Is that a good price or is it overpriced?

Also, I really dislike the typical shredder neck profile (super thin-super flat) and prefer something along the lines of a JS or Ultra neck profile. Anyone knows how are the necks on these guitars?

THX for the help

Fred

Re: Any Carvin DC135 owners?

That's a beautiful guitar! I'm getting a Carvin, too, this year.

Anyway, I think 700 Euros is a very good price. Maybe a little low, though. That might be an indication that's it's either very old, or that it's no longer in mint condition? I think this, because in Europe we pay much more for them, generally, than the people in the USA. But I could be wrong.

The neck profile is C-shaped, AFAIK. You can see that in one of the pictures on the Carvin website, of model DC127. Here is a link.

If you can afford it...Just buy it!

Do not think twice!

For that price, I can't see nothing better as far as value for the money is concerned.

Serial number? Year?

I'm not sure but seems to me that now Carvin has adopted a more "standard" neck profile. They are now 12" radius when, before, they were compound radius stuff...I'm not sure!

I've one 1995/6 DC200T, which has electronics and is HH configurations.

Nonetheless, you will love that guitar! With age it will became even better.

I don't why Carvin are not mainstream guitars...
(I should keep my mouth shut! )

I wish I could have another one for that price!
(soon...who knows!)

Cheers,

F. André

Carvin necks are a bit thicker than Ibanez necks, but they are still very playable. Their 6 string pickups sound great as well, so there's no real need to swap them out. I would say that one isn't too old as it was a Wilkinson bridge on it. It looks like a really nice guitar I love my 727, and I've had a bunch of Carvins in the past.

Any chance you can play this before buying it?

If you think about it, when you play a jem, pretty much everything else feels like it has a thick neck.

I've got an '89 model, pearl blue, gold hardware, kahler pro trem...

Got it from the original owner... Like all carvin's I've every played...It's awesome... I do hate the mini switches though... I've never figured out what carvin hates about the 5 way.

I also have a '93 or so DC400C with active electronic... whose neck is only slight thicker than the wizard neck.

My SC90C has the thickest neck of all, more like a Jem neck... but nowhere close to Fenders gigantic "C" shaped log.
