Any good LP Custom copies?
What are some good
Les Paul Custom
copy guitars? I have always wanted a LP Custom but never had $4000. What are some good ones that are under $1000? Heres some I was looking at:
Tokai ALC53
http://www.tokai-guitars.co.uk/index...mart&Itemid=31
ESP
Grass Roots
GLP50C
http://www.espguitars.co.jp/grassroots/index.html
I dont really like the headstock inlays on the Tokai, I really Like them on the Grass Roots though but heard Grass Roots are the lowest quality guitars on the ESP line.

Get an Edwards, I had a few and they weren't bad. Much better than the Epiphone stuff.

Wow thanks I google searched an edwards les paul and they are nice. I might get one sometime in the near future. They also make another really nice LP Custom with black hardware and EMG's for $1050, maybe i'll save up for that one.

Re: Any good LP Custom copies?
Some people use the old "Edwards is as good as Gibson" story. I didn't find that to be true, but they are definitely nice. I didn't much care for the finish on the LP Standard I had from them. They claim to be nitro finishes, and have the long neck tenon. Which isn't 100% true. Still of all the Gibson knock offs I played or owned, the Edwards were the nicest. I even have an Edwards Tele that aside from the relic job looking awful it plays and sounds great.

Re: Any good LP Custom copies?
The MIJ Epiphone Elitist series is great too. There is one for auction right now that has some play wear, but is priced nicely.
Also, if you get lucky, you can score a nice USA Hamer or Heritage for around $1000. I got a Hertiage H150- in excellent shape- for under $900 the other day. Now, it's more of a Standard than a Custom, but for the quality you're getting who cares!

As close as you can get without actually having to buy the Gibson.

Re: Any good LP Custom copies?
Any company that isn't Gibson or Epiphone (or at least Gibson) will probably make a good LP, imho.

Re: Any good LP Custom copies?
There always has to be one.
The problem with that logic is aside from Gibson, I havent seen one company that makes a true to spec Les Paul cheaper than Gibson. They all skimp somewhere, and almost none of them use nitro laquer for the finish.

Re: Any good LP Custom copies?
A used Heritage H-157 would do, but they aren't everywhere. And Like 'Cid said, an Edwards is nice but not a Gibson.

. Reason: left the 7 off the H-157 :)

Re: Any good LP Custom copies?
I have an Austin AU786QCS Quilt Top (laminate) Cherry Sunburst.
Solid Mahagony body (no weight relief "Heavy")
Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard, mother of pearl/pearloid inlay.
60`s neck profile< smaller than baseball bat 50`s
If you gooogle the pickup #'s you get epi 57 classics; prolly should change these but I've heard worse. I went JB/Jazz in mine. List $449
These aren't known by many ppl but they are made on the same table as the Epiphone and much more solid to me and I like the headstock better too.
I bought one to make a point to all my "Gotta have a Gibson friends" upon which they finally shutup and see that there is no $40000 worth of anything on a gibson

Re: Any good LP Custom copies?
I would recommend
Tokai
. I have a Rove Rock series which
copy
a STD when I was a student. Once I had chance to purchase a real Gibson. I feel no difference between both of them.
