Anybody here regularly play a baritone guitar? Advice!

I've found a killer baritone 12-string that I'm thinking of picking up, but I have NO experience with baritone guitars.

I'm wondering if anybody has any advice/input in regards to how a baritone would fit into the scheme of things in a band context. The guitar I'm looking at is a Renaissance baritone 12-string that is tuned a 5th down (B-E-A-D-F#-B).

Baritones fit in just like 7-strings or drop-tuned guitars. They're great when your bass player also has a 5- or 6-string.

Getting really into Rick Turner's guitars, huh?

LOL Yeah...the Buckingham model got me hooked!

I picked up one of the acoustic/electric classicals and LOVE it as well! My first nylon-string guitar, and I couldn't be happier.

I figure the bari 12-string will be a good textural instrument. I guess I could always capo at the 5th fret if all else fails

I bet the baritone 12 will sound absolutely monstrous!

I'd love to get one of his nylon strings.

The classical is insane! Mine is a Custom Shop model with the upgraded East Indian rosewood back/sides and solid spruce top with the rope purfling. It's gorgeous, but plays and sounds incredible as well. GREAT 18V Highlander pickup system- powerful and crystal clear. They're hard to find, but VERY worth it

That looks like an incredible instrument!

The only thing I'd be wary of in a band context is that it's going to fill up a lot of the frequency spectrum; deep and high at the same time. You'll most likely need to do some careful EQing to ensure you leave space for the bass and any other guitars to come through properly. That said, I think it'd be a great addition for lots of styles of music, and (in particular) a superb solo instrument too.

Well...after having the Renaissance Baritone 12-string for a little over a week, I'm still unable to put it down! The tone is incredible and the sound is just monstrous. Definitely fills a niche! The B-B range is very pleasing to the ear, and I've found it to be a great composition tool.

I like the Idea of a 12-string acoustic baritone...if you got small hands or you just wanna be different baritones are evil, I've found that a 7-string, 5-string bass and my baritone combined with some serious double kick drum action is sick heavy!
