Anyone's for V's ???

Ok don't get me wrong, but I'm just interested in what you guys think about V shaped guitars. I find it strange that I'm like the only one among my friends who find them uncomfortable to play !

I'm with you.

First of all you can only play a Flying V or a king V or a Rhoads V standing up.
That'll make any studio recording or home practice a bitch.
I used to love the shape of the Rhoads V until I got RR2..................and realised how uncomfortable it is to play.
Got rid of it real quick and got a natural SL3 instead.

NOT TRUE i play my v sitting all the time

I love vs and mls and i dont have a prob with the shape its just a matter of knowing how to hold it

They also make vs with contoured areas like on a strat so theyre easier to hold but i hate those

I love the way they look, but they are a bit uncomfortable. i used to have a carvin Ultra-V and i loved the tone and how it played, and surprisingly it was easy to play sitting down cause it had the shape of rhoads but upside down with the long leg pointing down so it was more comfortable to play but not as comfortable as a nice 2027

I was uncomfortable with sitting and playing V's for a long time too...
I'm now hooked on the old Dave Mustaine signatures. Not the Y2KV, but the older King V Pros...

I also own 2 King V doublenecks...my black one is the one that used to be on the Custom Shop website. It's not there in the archives anymore, but i still have the pic...

If anyone would like to see her, you can go here. http://www.angelfire.com/az3/pharaohstoys/ Sorry, i haven't learned to post pics here yet...lol

Wow... a Flying W! Cool stuff.

I kinda like classic Gibson V's, but doubt i'd ever play one.

Yeah... i LOVE king v's (the pointy v's). I think the coolest looking one ever is Kerry King's Tribal BC Rich. But I have problems with some of its specs... like the 24.5 scale and dual emg 81s and a painted neck.

Sand the neck down and have it strung one guage heavier...lol
We had a guy at work who brought in a Les Paul that he loved, except for the finish on the neck, so he had it sanded down. Worked out great, but the neck just looks so funny now, because its stained pinkish. (The mohogany soaked up the cherry finish).

I love V's, esp the V Pat O'Brien from Cannibal Corpse uses: BC RICH 7 string, floyd, single EMG 707 in the bridge w/ Afterburner circuit, neck-thru, nice diamond shaped (?) inlays.

Thanx Darren... that's one of two. The black flying "w" was a replica of Dave Mustaine's first doubleneck from Jackson. I thought it was gonna be cool, but I missed having the neck pickup on the 12-string. So, I had another made, again like Mustaine's but modeled after his second one, which is trans-amber with a burled maple top. I had the 12-string neck made wider, and a neck pickup put in on the 12...

Just bought a new camera, so when I get the chance I'll share a pic of that one...

That W is SO cool! I would always knock the 12string bridge tuners out with my thigh though, so i'll stick with a normal kingV!

Usually when I sit with it, the bottom (six-string) wing is on my knee, not the 12 string tuners area. The jack is the only thing located there in a recessed plate... Aside from that, I have whacked the tuners numerous times, and thy are rather stiff, so it hasn't gone out on me...really a fun guitar, but this one is considerably heavier than the 2nd one.
