Many years ago my first 'proper' guitar with a locking trem was a Washburn KC40V (in limited edition Woodstone finish) and I treated the guitar pretty badly, in the 9+ years I had it when I came to sell it (for £100) it had worn out trem posts huge valleys in the frets most of the
rosewood fingerboard had strange light patches in it the body had been touched up with model kit paint (to cover the chips!) and the lacquer on the back of the neck was mostly worn off leaving odd smooth then sticky patches.
Anyway last week I managed to bag another one exactly the same but I onlt paid £60 for it, really it was to see why I thought it was so good. Now I know the neck is superb, slightly thicker than a Wizard but really comfortable and the pickups sound fantastic and I re-ignited the old love affair the KC had with my Boss HM-2
Heavy metal pedal what a perfect sonic combination.
Criminally I don't play the JEMs anymore! Has anyone else had this experience? Are older guitars really better made?
