Bass thread anyone?

What I see lacking with this forum is the lack of any bass sub-forum, any dedicated bass thread or even much interest on basses, despite the fact that many of you must own at least one...

So I dunno, post photos of your basses, discuss them, and perhaps if it kicks off it might be reason to create a subforum sometime

So to start, here's some pics of my EDB600

Sorry that this is in this forum and not the Other Ibanez Guitars one, but y'know, just to give room for people with non-Ibanez basses.

I used to have one of those 5 string Ergodynes but got rid of it. Now I have this. It's good enough for what I use it for, mainly it just collects dust.

Re: Bass thread anyone?

I play bass gigs and I also play the bass for the philharmonic youth orchestra. But my camera is broken!! once i get it fixed or i use my dad's I'll take pics of my G&L L-2000 and my borrowed upright bass (getting a 100 y.o. french upright bass later probably) and I thought i had some of my bex-bs but I'll have pics later i guess. Here is a teaser (or all i can find that has part of my bass in it)

You can see part of the bass on the right

Re: Bass thread anyone?

Here's mine mixed in with the rest of my motley collection. The Gibson was just sold recently (to fund a case of GAS) but I'll probably hang on to the Fender forever. The Fender is very versitile and comfortable.

A gig...

I'm actually seriously thinking of buying this, but in the red colour. I tried it in Sound Control the other day (through an Ampeg mind so it'd be best possible sound almost), and it handles so much stuff really nicely, even tapped harmonics

Yeah, I went out to see my saleman and told him I had $900 to spend on a bass, he showed me that one for $300. It works fine for what I need and plays really well, although I think it does look a little silly

Re: Bass thread anyone?

I dont play it near as much as I should since I quit playing bass in bands but here's my early USA Lakland 4-94 bass. Birdseye maple board on a lightly flamed maple neck. Bart electronics. Killer bass!

I used to play bass all the time in my previous bands. I'll get some pictures up when i have a chance.
elcid those basses are really nice, I almost bought one when I was looking for a bass with more than 4 strings but had a kind of GAS attack and got an 8 string lol.

Re: Bass thread anyone?

Interesting you should mention that. I was thinking just a couple days ago that there should be a bass forum here. Maybe if you ask Glen real nicely ...

Re: Bass thread anyone?

It was a bass the originally turned me on to Ibanez guitars over 20 years ago. It was a Sound Gear...I thought it played most like a Regular 6 string compared to other basses I had played. I was impressed with the smaller neck, low action and good sound.

It was not too long after that I bought the grey 1990 S540 LTD pictured above.

Eventually...I met up with the guy that had bought/traded the sound gear bass from a friend and another friend. This was the same bass I had played many years ago. Anyway...I "borrowed" it for about a year or so. Eventually the guy (He lived across the street from me) wanted it back, so reluctantly, I gave it back.

Right after that... I went and bought the one in the picture.

I only use it for recording purposes. I am not a "real" bass payer....I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night. I just fake it.

That's my bass story.
