Beginner Guitar

What is the general consensus of the best made beginner guitar and amp combo pack under 300 dollars? I'm looking at Yamaha Pacificas, Ibanez and Jackson packs, as well as Squier...

Also, if theres a good guitar under 200 with a Micro Cube or something that works as well...

Re: Beginner Guitar

Check this out at MF, Im sure others have it too
Item # 512577

Its a Squire beginners pack, but it comes with a smaller GDEC amp, which is a great learning tool
Its a little more than $300, but maybe you could finder it cheaper somewhere else

Epiphone males one thats only $99, but the amp isnt as cool

Re: Beginner Guitar

I was going to say "either Squier or Ibanez" 'cause I think they offer the best quality for the money. After I checked out cid's link, I agree with him, the extra $50 or so is worth it for all the extra stuff the G-DEC jr. does.

The guitar has a bridge humbucker and then two single coils. With that pickup combination and all the presets on the amp, you are getting a lot more versatility for your money than your typical guitar-and-ten-watt-practice-amp setup.

My two cents.

Re: Beginner Guitar

Quick..... you've gotten some good advice. Your best bet now is to go put some hands on! Errrrr, I mean have your "friend" go put some hands on. He may like one better than the other! Fender does offer great little starter rigs for the bucks. It's what my son started with! Your friend can upgrade as he progresses!

I'd say Fender's your best bet.

Re: Beginner Guitar

Go with a Pacifica. It was my first guitar, and it was awesome. It will easily grow with you for a couple of years.

Re: Beginner Guitar

Yamaha Pacificas are excellent guitars, definitely would recommend one of those to a beginner.

Re: Beginner Guitar

Ok right now It looks like we will try out the Pacifica and the Squier Strats to see which one he likes best, of course all of the others, but we won't have all day

Don't stick to just Yamaha and Squier, though. If you look past those, you might find yourself a hidden gem.
