Best rythem guitar?
I was wondering, what's the best guitar for rythem? Hard tail/String through bridge only
. 6 or 7 string. I just dont want to cross post to the 7
string section
. Baritones are always nice too
. I've been looking a Schecter a lot lately. Any other suggestions?

Re: Best rythem guitar?
What kind of rhythm? Chunka chunka rhythm? Funky rhythm?
The classic rock rhythm guitar is a
Gibson Les Paul
. For funk stuff it's a strat.
There are Ibanez's that do a fair job of both, but maybe be a little more specific about what you want and what styles you paly and we can help you better.

Re: Best rythem guitar?
Depends on your tastes, some would argue hardtail, others with a trem. I would say try a whole load and find what works for you.

Re: Best rythem guitar?
And since when is a Gibson the "classic rock ryhthm guitar"?
Ok its a classic sound, but a strat is just as good as a rock ryhthm guitar, just ask
ritchie blackmore
.

As long as we are being overly anal, what's the best guitar to play an open position G7 chord through a Fender amp coveredwith red tolex and a 90 degree end on the cable at the guitar end?

Telecaster, but if you meant to type GM7, then it's an SG. Or something.....

Natural finish with a plain
black pickguard
would be the most suitable.
Seriously though, depends on the type of rhythm really.

Surely it is far more important to know what kind of boots the player is wearing at the time?

I say use whatever gets the sound you're looking for, and can play in tune, unless you're intentionally trying to play out of tune ;-). I've used a Samick tele copy with a bad
truss rod
before. Played ok, stayed in tune, and twanged it's little heart out. Lots of bite, which I was needing for the song I was recording. Soon, however, it will be parted out and sold. (saving for a Jem!!) You probably already know the answer to your question- strat (or similar) for hi end, LP (or similar) for thicker sound, tele (or similar) for twang, blah blah blah.

Re: Best rythem guitar?
There should be a list of questions that will NEVER have a definitive answer.
Here a few of them:
What's the best pickups?
What's the best strings?
What's the best trem?
What's the best guitar?
What's the best amp?
What's the best ______?
Not to say it doesn't make for interesting conversation, at least.
Also, you may want to start your quest for this "rhythm guitar" by learning how to spell rhythm.
One more thing....
A rhythm guitar cannot be purchased because it does not exist as a separate musical instrument. However, there is a tendency for rhythm guitarists to use heavier strings than lead guitarists. That said, because rhythm and lead players are trying to get different sounds out of their instruments, the rhythm guitarist will frequently use a different guitar than the lead player. --Wikipedia
Good Luck!

Yeah, I have never seen 2
guitar players
share 1 guitar. (for any extended period of time) That would be kinda wierd. So, that sounds like a good idea...2 guitarist, 2 guitars.
