Bored... drunk... Charvel So Cal - modified!

Hey there guys.

Well... I did something with my recently purchased Charvel So Cal Candy Green. Here some pictures how she looked before my mod.

Yesterday evening I drunk lot of wine, it was a very boring evening. I grabbed my Charvel to play abit along John Frusciantes solo stuff, then I looked at it... took my "les paul"-lighter and torched a spot. Don't ask me why I did that.... I was bored and drunk! ... Well, then I saw how the laquer started to bubble and bounce. I was able to strip the torch spotted warm laquer easily with my fingers! Okay, cool stuff i thought and went to bed. Today in the morning I went into a supermarkt here in town, pick up a sixpack beer and 2 lighter at the checkout. At home I started to heat and strip of the candy green laquer step by step. Drunk beer, torching, drinking, torching, drinking, torching, drinking, torching, drinking, torching, drinking, torching, drinking, torching.. till the late late afternoon when the whole laquer was finaly removed completely.

Looked like this.

After that I sanded/polished the body with 0000 grade steelwool. The "finish" feels SO good in hands! Extremely sleeky and nice as if there is a finish on it, it doesnt feel like bare wood at all. Love it. I have to say, NOW I'm enjoying the look much more... imo now it's got a timeless look like it is. Classy and modern at the same time.

I'll take her to grave! I'm so in love with this guitar.
What do you guys think? Shouldn't I drink so much?

I have to say that I was most concerned. That green is awesome.

Thankfully as I scrolled down I saw a very nice natural finish.

And yes, you shouldn't drink so much!

You've turned a unique finish into another natural guitar...I like the look of both but honestly I think that was a stupid idea.

Infraction given.

By the way, I really liked the green, but it came out much much nicer than I thought it would as I was reading. Too bad it's a 3 piece body, but it still looks beautiful, especially the close up pics where you can really see the sheen. I'll bet it feels like an unfinished neck.

Thumbs up.

Maybe I should have used bold underline italics on the you part, and a smily face, just to point out to those with broken sarcasm detectors that I was punning on his use of the word screw, while expressing my disagreement with his opinion.

Good thing you wore clothes while taking that first photo... lol, I've seen on other forums where people have taken photos of things with mirrors behind and it's been all bad. lol.
