Yah, I agree. Don't see the point of wah pedals, whammy pedals, tremolo, chorus, flange, octave effects, ring modulators, rotating speaker simulators, reverb, echo, delay either.

Its just like any effect. Kill switches are Buckethead's "thing". Could be worse, could be Kirk Hammett's "thing"!

I don't see the need for a kill switch on a Les Paul, Randy Rhoads would just turn the volume on one pickup down and use the toggle. Maybe the button is faster or easier. Two kill switches seems a little silly to me though.

Have you seen what Bucket does with the kill switch though? No way you'd get that kind of control just by using the toggle.

Is anyone here familiar with Buckethead? I'm not even a fan of the guy and I know about his love for the kill switch. Asking why he has it on his guitar is silly, assuming you know anything about him.

It has a kill switch...because its Buckethead's guitar. To use a similar example as a counter to your point, its like asking why Zakk Wylde's Les Paul needs EMGs and a bullseye. If EVH had a signature Les Paul, it'd probably have a Floyd and a D-Tuna. Etc., etc. etc.

Kill switch = Buckethead

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaCEr...eature=related

You can see him use the kill switch in that video (if you can get past his nutball shenanigans! ). As previously said, its about the control. He REALLY does use it. A lot. You know how EVH uses right hand tapping, like every freaking solo? BH uses the kill switch to a similar extent...maybe not as bad though. Much better to have a button than a switch that isn't designed for fast, repetitive use. Plus it allows you to use any combo of pickups at the same time.

As for the reason for two? I thought about it and realized its probably so he can have some use of it while he's tapping with his right hand. Pretty cool, actually.

Oh for god's sake man. We understand the concept of a signature guitar, we are familiar with Buckethead, it just seems pointless since the same effect can already be had on the guitar without the kill switch, a second switch that does the same thing that no switches are necessary for seems like overkill. That's all. Try switching to decaf or something.

I don't like it. Remove the red buttons and add some neck binding, then it will be an acceptable guitar to me. But if it's the best guitar for him, then it's ok. It's his signature after all.

Incorrect. Bucket displays more soul than most with his music.

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul - official photos

I thought the tone knob pulled up to tap the coils

The Buckethead Signature Les Paul carries a calibrated pair of Gibson’s contemporary-voiced Ceramic series humbucking pickups, featuring a 496R in the neck (rhythm) position, and a hot 500T in the bridge (lead) position. Both are specially made with double-white bobbins to match the look of the guitar, and the bridge pickup is split via a push/pull switch on the Tone knob to achieve a single-coil tone.

Special Features
The Buckethead Signature Les Paul carries two red “arcade” style pushbutton kill switches to mute the output of the guitar, as well as a push/pull switch on the Tone potentiometer to access the bridge pickup’s split-coil feature.

At least the ebony fretboard and fret dressing looks nice as usual! Alpine white with white binding is quite striking.
exactly!
not worth it!

and wheres the classic bucket head storm trooper head for the kill switch?

top inlay isnt even the same
on his its old with those diamond thingies.

This is the only les paul id even consider, i can hardly stand them - beautiful, but just dont do it

Gibson just cant do it right damnit!

can't see that option meeting the criteria.

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul - official photos

I would totally buy this because it seems to not have the things I dislike with Gibson such as the thick necks, 22frets, and the weight. I dig the looks a LOT and I'm a killswitch user myself so the possibilities of two killswitches boggles my mind. I'm thinking about adding another killswitch to the one that has it just to check this out....

I think it's pretty cool how he uses the killswitch in this video.

It's just a live version of the song posted earlier. Pretty cool.
