Buying a PRS Guitar
I have been thinking about buying a nice PRS for awhile now. I was wondering if anyone here can tell me or give me some info on a PRS model that has a nice slim neck, like a Jem or
Les Paul Standard
with the Slim 60's taper neck.

Re: Buying a PRS Guitar
I think the Wide Thin carve on a Custom 22 or 24 (depending on how many frets you want) is probably closest. Watch out for the quality of the maple top - they are really variable even 10 Tops.
Save you money and get a Suhr instead!!!

Re: Buying a PRS Guitar
I would go pick up a few Custom 22's or 24's and play them, because they seem to be pretty hit or miss.

Re: Buying a PRS Guitar
Buy a Maxxas by Ibanez instead if you can find one. I have tried several
PRS guitars
and none play as nicely or have a neck like my Maxxas.

Re: Buying a PRS Guitar
Just check out a Custom 24 with Wide Thin neck (as opposed to Wide Fat)
- 10 top
- with Birds
- with trem
most do have this spec anyway
I've owned about 10 - all set up nicely
I sold my Blue24 about 9 months ago.......
It was mint and too nice to take out and gig, so it hung on the dining room wall for ages, looking pretty and getting the occaisional play
But hey...... at £1400(that i got for it) thats an expensive ornament
I do miss her though........

Re: Buying a PRS Guitar
Lovely PRS Custom, are those the stock pups? can't believe you sold her. There is one for sale at the moment, but I think £1950 is a bit high, surely.

Just another incredible guitar maybe
I love PRS guitars.
Anyway, to answer the original question, PRS necks come in two basic neck carve widths (wide and narrow), and two basic depths (thin and fat). Wide is much more popular than narrow; I can't even remember seeing a PRS saying "Narrow/Thin" (like an SG) in years now. So if you get a Wide/thin PRS you'll probably be fine with it. A used Custom 24 is the way to go

It is whale blue - VERY nice
Blue Matteo is also very nice
I just COULDN'T bring myself to take it out and gig it - it was MINT
I have tons of guitars and it was just another that was real nice to own but didn't get played much for fear of getting it dinked............
I sold my 10th about 6 months ago - for the same reason.........
GET A CUSTOM 24 - WITH "WIDE/THIN" NECK - you'll love it

can't remember Dave - but they sounded fukn GREAT!
anywhere from £1000 to £1500 is about right depending upon condition and whether it has birds and 10 top

Re: Buying a PRS Guitar
One of the best moves I ever made was buying my first PRS
Absolutely love them and the tone you get from them. Everything I hoped a
Les Paul
would be
But like all guitars, it's what suits. My brother is the total opposite to me, he loved my old Custom LP and my PRS CE24 just didn't do it for him.
I definately recommend you try one out. I for one will be adding another PRS to my collection when I get the chance. Maybe a Standard 24.
