Question

Can't Figure Out the Model this Charvel is...

I have recently recieved a PEARL WHITE Charvel/by Jackson Guitar.
It Has a KAHLER bridge (not sure if its a tremelo) with FINE TUNERS at the bottom of it, it has 3 Knobs and 3 Switches. 1 rectangle pickup that says jackson, and 2 single pickups that say jackson, it has 22 frets with mother of pearl dot inlays. It has Black Tuners on the top, and one plate covering the electronincs on the back.On the back the plate reads: Fort Worth Texas address and the number on the back of it is #226069. I know it is the japanese model, late 80's , but im not sure of the name of this particular guitar.
It looks extremely similar to the Model 6 but has Mother of pearl dot inlays, and a different bridge instead. Please Help me, i know its a very bad description.

Sounds like a Model 4 if it doesn't have a pickguard, or a Model 3 if it does. The rectangle pickup is called a himbucker.

Charvel switched to Floyd-licenses tremolos around '87 or so. Otherwise, from what I recall, I have to agree with jim777 that it's a Model 4.

1986 was the first year for Japanese Charvels and the only year for Kahler usuage. 1987-88 went to the Jackson JT-6 Floyd, 89-91 the Schaller Floyd. The Kahler hurts the value somewhat as most people(myself included) don't care for them.

Sound like you need to visit the JCF
Generally, the Model series guitars don't pull too much money, certainly not equvalent to their worth. Like a lot of guitars in this market, they are better to buy than to sell at the moment.

Model 4's have the pearl Sharktooth inlays (at least mine does) so I'd say a model 3.

is it a through-neck, or bolt on? If it's the former, then it'll likely be a model 5. If bolt on, listen to the guys above ^

www.audiozone.dk has a wealth of Jackson and Charvel information, including catalog scans dating way back.

I believe the only neck through of the Model # series was the Model 6.

Nope, i just did my homework on this guitar. Its a Model 4, the sharkfin inlays are the MODEL 6's, so check that out. well, at least all the model 6's do. I've found the model 4 manual book for it and it all checks out a-ok.

Thank you though.

Actually I believe you're both right - first year (1986) Model 4s like yours with the Kahler trem had dots; when they replaced the Kahler with the Jackson JT-6 Floyd Rose License trem they also added the shark fin inlays to the Model 4.
