Cheap Acoustic Guitar
I've been listening to a lot of
acoustic
stuff recently and it's really inspired me to write some softer music. But I only have a crappy nylon classical guitar that's falling to bits. So basically I want a really cheap steel strung guitar that sounds half decent. It doesn't have to be amazing because I'm on a really tight budget.
Any suggestions?
I really like the sound of the Alice in Chains MTV Unplugged:

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
What sort of price range?
Ozark make some fine acoustic guitars. I have a 12-string Stagg that I bought for £80 new about 4 years back, it's brilliant.

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
I picked up a Yamaha APX500 electro-acoustic for <£200 - I think it's pretty good for the ££

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
Try norman guitars. I had a go on one down in johnny roadhouse in manchester a little while ago, their D20 model. Handbuilt in canada, sounded really nice, loud enough and played super well...150 english.
I know what I'm buying if I need another acoustic.

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
The Norman line is great. I didn't know they were so affordable in the UK.
Change my vote to Norman.

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
THe UK distributer for norman is london based I think, so it should be too difficult. If nothing else, Johnny Roadhouse will ship I believe.
Edit: Woops, wrong end of the country. The distributer is glaswegian. Try giving them a ring and asking who orders them in in london area.

I can't find a D20, only a B20 which is much more than £150:

Am I looking at the wrong guitar?

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
Well the best way to do it would be to get in touch with johnny roadhouse. I know the sticker on the one I played was £150. The D20 does exist, its on their website if you google norman guitars (not froogle)

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
Do you have Breedlove overthere? They have a lot of really wonderful sounding cheaper models as well as their high divine stuff. Here in Nashvegas you can often get them for around $500-$600 or so, which is like 400 Euros. Great sound, good electronics, and I love their bridge designs because they don't involve the irritating plugs to string them.
Just a thought.

Their website was the first place I looked, and I can't see any D series guitars.

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
I'm really sorry! I meant this model, you're right, they don't have a D series!

Silver, we do have Breedlove over here, but they're VERY expensive I'm afraid...

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
Hey - I'm in the same boat - looking for a cheap acoustic. I checked the Norman website but none of their dealers will post prices. They look sweet though. Any other options?

Re: Cheap Acoustic Guitar
The same company that makes Norman also makes Art & Lutherie. Maybe the Norman supplier can get them in. They are cheaper than Normans and the solid top models sound and play very nice.
