Cheap Trem Stopper
I know the floyd rose upgrades site sells a device that is made specifically for this, but its 20$ for 2 screws a bolt and a little piece of metal. This is almost the exact same thing, but, this is 2.45$. Its a mounting bracket for les paul pickguards and it should work just find if you supply your own extra screw. Looks a bit flimsy mabey, but if you get 2 it should be fine, that is, if one doesn't suffice.

Re: Cheap Trem Stopper
I take it you haven't tried this yourself? If so, please check in when you do.
That being said, I feel your theory is sound enough to warrant experimentation especially considering the price. I wouldn't be worried about the strength of the bracket as much as the screw's ability to hold the bracket well enough to prevent it from slipping. I'm sure there's something that could be done to deal with that though.
Regardless, kudos for thinking of that.

Re: Cheap Trem Stopper
No, I have not tried it yet, but I am going to order a pickup and input jack cover from GuitarFetish very soon, so Ill add that to my order. I will install the pickup and 'tremstop' on my LTD MH100QM and review the results.

Re: Cheap Trem Stopper
I made one once for way less than that- I bought a metal L-bracket and installed it in the trem cavity. Same idea, and the bracket and screws costs only a few bucks. It set the trem to drop notes only (and if you tightened the springs it would actually act as a fixed bridge). Any hardware store will have them. If I can find it I'll post a pic.

Re: Cheap Trem Stopper
Did you put anything on the end of the screw that was in contact with the trem block? or was it metal on metal?

Re: Cheap Trem Stopper
Metal on metal. It was a cheap fix, admittedly, but it actually worked. And the screw didn't touch the trem block- the bracket did. I found it and took a pic- the part with the screw hole screwed into the trem cavity and the "L" on the bracket would act as a stop to the trem block.

Re: Cheap Trem Stopper
I figured you could get something similar at a hardware store, and when I made my first post I was at my dads bar, which is right across from a hardware store. Its just that I want everyone to know that the item FloydRoseUpgrades.com sells for 20$ can be purchased for far less, even though the cheaper item isn't made for this purpose.
