CONFESS Your addiction, yep you need "just" another guitar!

I thought about this theme las week and I have the disease I confesss, if my wife does not stop me once in a while or I runout of space Id have more than 20 guitar now....
Now I have:
A Ramirez Classical
A Jackson Randy Rhoads B/O
A custom made Les Paul
A Strato acoustic by fender (my kid had to take lessons)
A Jackson Dinky made in Japan.
An Ovation Ultra.
A Yamaha 12 string.

Most of them have some form of custom mods, from pickups to wiring, to painting...

As of now Id have a JEM 777BMR but I haven been able to find or to buy one at a reasonable price ( and the ones have scaped me!).

Anyways I think Ill buy the Jem and maybe order a custom guitar...but I am always saying...this is a wonderful guitar I wont be needind anything else...and then 2 to 4 months later..I am shopping again....

Its not even important to retionalize since the Les Paul and the RR are incredible guitars that I wouldnt sell, but heck arent JEMS and JS sooo nicee...

Feel free to share your pain....

the only thing controlling your GAS is amount of your spare cash..... or debt to pay. So don't forget about it ;] I just bought new guitar- EJ signature Strat. Pix posted in this section of forum I love GAS.

Re: CONFESS Your addiction, yep you need "just" another guitar!

There was a time I had over 20 guitars. Nowadays I have 6:

Yamaha concert guitar (nylon) '82
Fender Montara Steel string '90
Jem 7BRMR '06
UV7BK '97
Westone X300 '88
Ibanez RG (being modded to a RBM) '05

I GAS for:

* 80's Ibanez Artist Bass
* Seagull acoustic 12 string w/ piezo
* An UV777 LNG, basically a Jem777 but 7 string with AANJ and rosewood fretboard with multicolor Disappearing Pytramid (will have that custom made probably next year by RafaPG)
* An ATD UV77MC or a custom copy (which again would be made by RafaPG and swirled by Richard Fay)
* An UV full gold/chrome (headstock & body) with Gold/chrome Vine (gold/chrome painting by SCS (Sims), building by RafaPG)

I would like for my rack:

* Mesa Boogie dual rectifier preamp
* TC Electronics G-system

Do I *need* it? No. I just crave it

Regards,

JP

Re: CONFESS Your addiction, yep you need "just" another guitar!

I think we all have a bit of a GAS problem here... I gotta admit that I get hit with the urge to buy new gear every once in a while.. Here's a quick list of stuff I've personally bought because of GAS:

J-Custom RG1302
J-Custom RG1880s
J-Custom RG8670-TV
J-Custom RG8670-VV
JCRG-2
ESP MII deluxe
ESP Vintage Plus
Ibanez Universe UV777bk
Ibanez PL650
Ibanez 540p
Caparison Horus
Caparison Delinger
Some Ibanez Solid body classical
Ibanez 7-string acoustic(forgot the model #)
ESP Horizon NT-II
Ibanez USA Custom Exoic Wood
Some custom made guitar which is kinda like an evil looking PRS.

Many of which got sold after my now EX-wife forced me to downsize... but now that I ain't married anymore I'm tempted to buy more guitars.. again...

Well my sickness has exponential expanded into stuff I cant afford, but I buy it anyway… cause "when I grow up, I'm gonna be famous a rock-n-roll guitar player! Love it."

Guitars (Ibanez Jems/RGs/Custom & Strats) I will be at 10 when I finally finish my custom jem.
DAW, Studio & Guitar Equipment, and 4 computers

and lets not forget about reeb ..z

Re: CONFESS Your addiction, yep you need "just" another guitar!

I'm no where near 20, but...

Washburn D10 acoustic
Peavey T25 Bass
Peavey Patriot Guitar
Charvel/Jackson fusion mutt
Squier/Charvel standard mutt
Ibanez RG 565
Ibanez RG 470fx (2 of them, fixed bridge, HSH, very cool)

I keep telling myself if I get rid of one, I can get another. Only problem is, I can't see myself getting rid of any of them!

And that my friend is indeed the problem with Guitars you buy them thinking you could sell them later and one day you wake up with one too many!!
Is that not how collectors are born???

Ahh the first sympton of terminal GAS - DENIAL !!!!!!

Its a good job my GAS is directed at Suhrs - they're too expensive to be impulse purchases. FX pedals on the other hand are much cheaper especially on the bay during a dull friday afternoon at work

Re: CONFESS Your addiction, yep you need "just" another guitar!

i don't like where I'm headding.

Im down to 3 guitars but I had 5 guitars at once and sold one to get another which I now sold.

Currently, I have a Fender Stratocaster (mexican), Squire Strat & a Samick P-Bass. - Those 3 guitars I will never get rid of.

I used To have:

Ashton Acoustic: Sold it to help me pay for my Ibanez RG27SP
Samick Bass: Sold it to help me pay for my Ibanez RG27SP
Ibanez RG27SP: Sold it after 2 weeks of owning it.

and now, Im wanting a Kramer Baretta (or a 1984), Epi Lp and an American Strat (with a Floyd of course :P).

Plus I gotta save for my DSL50 & 2x12 Cab.

So Next year, I think I should only just buy a Kramer Baretta and my DSL50, leave the Epi Lp and The strat to another time :P (e.g in a few years!!!)

I wonder how long it will take for some of us to get a "uku lele" (SP?), just because we "needed one"

At least we are not like Hi fi buffs that but 2 meters of super cables for usd$800.

Funny that you say that, I have one in the works as we speak. A 6 string version and a 7 string version. 6 string will be a JEM body with monkey grip, lions claw, etc, 7 string version will be just like a UV. Both will have matching Gold headstocks with probably Black or Chrome Headstock logos.

A guitar that I'm craving is an all gold Warrior I'm foing right now for Warrior Instruments. Mirror Gold paint like Chrome but Gold, double cutaway, neck through (painted front and back) gold Floyd Rose, all gold knobs and hardware, tuners, etc, the new Gold Bobbin Dimarzios and gold looking fretwire. If any of you guys go to the Winter Namm 2007 look for it, it will be displayed at their booth along with a bunch of other guitars I am currently doing for them with wild custom crazy paint jobs specifically for that show. It would be a good time to check out some of my paint jobs too for those of you who have been wanting to see my work in person.
