Converting a TOM to string-thru

I have an ltd ex-260 explorer with the gotoh tune-o-matic setup, and i was wondering if it's difficult to change to a string through, any experiences with this? Also it is a set neck, don't know if this makes a difference...

Re: Converting a TOM to string-thru

I asked this same question a few months ago
It can be done easily by drilling the holes through the body. Fixing up the holes where the tailpiece was anchored would be a little trickier, more or less depending on what type of job you would like to do. It could be as simple as a dowel rod, saw, glue and black nail polish.

I would venture to leave the tailpiece where it is and drill the holes behind it, so you could string it either way

Is the problem that you need more sustain? How about replacing the bridge and tailpiece with TonePros parts. I've replaced all my TOM guitars with these. They work perfectly.

Tone pros are like two hundred bucks, yeah? Vs... drilling a few holes and a couple bucks for ferrules? Perhaps I'm mistaken, but putting the strings thru the body vibrates the body hence more sustain yeah? Or Brass parts that don't go through the body get more more sustain? I am a total noob and don't honestly know which would be better tone wise
