Yeah that is one sweet axe, would love that Strat.

The nut (and the screws/holes holding it on) looks fine to me

I still can't see what's wrong with it, can someone point out what it is? Is it that there's not timber under all of the lock nut base?

Re: Coolest Strat I've seen in a while

theres just a LOT of extra wood removed, from scalloping, from the nut, and then the 2 holes, if that thing ever fell over: SNAP!!!

they make a special locking mechanism for strats that go where the string tree would go, while preserving the origional nut, that would have been a much better option.

Fair enough, it's a similar story with rear routed Ibanez too though, thin neck, rear-mounted nut. They can snap or crack easily, I've had this happen with one of mine unfortunately. It's all fixed now, but still bad that it happened. Plays just as well as it always did so it's not too bad.

Those aren't Dunlop 6105's. They're probably 6100's. Otherwise I'm sure the guitar would hold up fine, but it might develop a forward bow that you can't fix with the truss rod.

yep, and those necks were designed for that style of locking nut. the only thing good about that strat neck is thats its a one piece maple.

Since he shaved it, he could have done the back of the head too... that looks sloppy... plus, itll get pretty dirty in no time if its all natural... :/

I've never actually learned what is the advantage/purpose of scalloped frets? All I can think of is if you have all of them done then all your fretted notes are susceptible to changing pitch according to varied pressure :\

Yeah, I saw this on e-bay too, nice one. I kinda like that color alot too. I think every guitarist should have a Strat in their arsenal.

Except those of us who think the necks are too narrow and that single coils sound weedy when used for anything other than clean chords.
