Cort X-6

So, I went out to buy a Boss GT-10 the other day, and after finalizing the deal (wanted a few cables and such) I asked the store clerk if I could just plug the GT-10 in to make sure it was working and all. So he set it up, and gave me a Cort X-6 to test it with. When I picked the guitar up, the first reaction was: why didn't he give me the nice Ibanez S series hanging in the wall to test? But I was kinda in a hurry so decided to focus on testing the Boss.

Still, while he was connecting the cables I started to examine the guitar and I was pleasantly suprised with. Seemed to be well built and the body is very comfortable to play with. The guitar wasn't well setup, had old strings and it was out of tune but it played ok in the circumstances. At the time, my head didn't quite put it together, but now it just clicked and I'm starting to feel some serious GAS for that guitar.

So with all that said, I have one question, that hopefully someone knows the answer: Is the floyd trem that Cort uses in their guitars any good? Can I swap it easily with a OFR? I'll probably ask at the store the next time I'm there, but vendors not always have good insight on this stuff, so I ask here

Re: Cort X-6

THe floyd on corts is a little below average in my experience, however its almost a carbon copy of the ofr so you should have no problems swapping it. For a little extra insurance, use a gotoh floyd, since they;re just as good if not better, and the single flat blade it has will give you a little extra leeway in terms of stud spacing.

Ah, cool...depending on how things go, I might just get this guitar...I was going to go with a RG, but the sharktooth inlays really bother me. I am waiting on some money that is coming over though...depending on how much it is, I might just get a higher end Ibanez, though I do have the problem of choosing which one, heh.

Re: Cort X-6

I´m not sure which one is the x-6 but I´ve tried most of the x models, those are well built, not like a japanese ibby or jackson but still nice, the neck is comfortable and the nut is narrower than on most ibanez, the trem is the only bad thing about them, they have very little pull up since there is a lot of that black plastic in the trem route, also it goes out of tune when pulling up, but returns to pitch when diving

They are hard to find but try to go with used. Cort's don't hold their value very well. They are great guitars but you typically take a bath on the resale.
