Current Jackson Pro´s?

Hi there!

I wonder what your opinions are on the current Japanese made Jacksons, especially the Dinkies (DK2...), quality of build in comparison to, let´s say a RG550, stock PU´s, and this "JT..." bridge.
I currently own an old Jackson Pro Dinky Archtop, produced somewhere around ´90, which i find to be one of the best guitars i´ve ever come across in terms of playability... even in comparison to my JEM90HAM.
My Jackson is coming of age, though, the frets, nut and even the bridge have seen the best of it, so I would rather buy some new guitar than spending xxx euros for some MAJOR overhaul. BTW, mine had some very decent Schaller-FR2 on it, so a comparison to that JT-something on the new Dinkies would be very helpful to me.
And no, buying a US-built Jackson is not an option at the time being, these monsters are even more expensive than JEMs here in Germany (JEM7VWH - 2200 euro, Jackson SL-2H 2600 euros...).
If the japanese are ok in terms of quality of build, and come with a half-decent bridge, i might want to get one and replace the PU´s...

I dunno about the dinky's or anything, but i played one of their R-5 pros or whatever in trans red. It stayed in tune grest, dounded beautiful and was an absoloute dream to play. slim thin necak was so fast. I would have bought it but the fact that it wasnt a 7-string kinda turned me off. I want a 7-string rhodes body that i can stick an ibanez 7-string neck on really bad. That little guitar was tough as hell too. IM lucky i didnt get caught because i tripped and threw it across the freaking store, aside from it haviung a lil chip on one of the edged it was fine and perfectly in tuine. I would HIGHLY suggest buy one of those beasts. AMAZING QUALITY. for ony like 300 bux

Well Dead Roman, if they´re only 300 bucks over there, it seems that even the japanese Jacksons are more than twice as expensive here. What a pity. No wonder that Germany´s economie is in a sorry state... if guitars were as cheap as in the U.S., I´d buy new ones every second week
Thanks for your opinion.

No more comments? C´mon, there are like 10000 people in this forum, I know it´s for upper class guitars mainly, but those jap. Jacksons aren´t so bad that you need to be shy about praising them

o.k. being i mostly play custom shop j/c's i'll offer an opinion...i recently played a brand new jackson pro dinky at gc, price 699..pile of skulls finish...being i'm used to the usa jacksons i was very pleasantly surprised...it played great and didn't feel cheap at all...p/u's only sounded o.k. though...being as the newer ones are going for what they are, i believe your best bet would be to scour ebay for a usae usa model...if you really want o new pro then contact matt @ www.onlinestagegear.com...tell him diablomozart sent ya... ...d.m.
btw he's got a killer crimson swirl right now...

I thought the Jacksons were overall a little better than the TRS equipped Ibanezes. Better pups than the powersounds, too. But once you get into Edge equipped axes with V series & better pups, the Ibanez have the edge. But the Jacksons are cheaper than those, so value for money has to go to them. Since I don't like their body styles as much (except for the discontinued stealth model), I only have one.

Now that Fender owns them and Ibanez has upped the ante, we'll see how things shake out.

Hmmm. just visited that onlinestagegear.com again after Matt told me shipping to Europe would be like $95. Seeing that a Pro costs about 1200 Euros here in Germany (roughly the same in $) and a SL2H in trans blue is $1200 there I might consider ordering on of those instead... tax and customs included this might still be a good deal. Will inquire as soon as possible. Thank you for your input!

no problem, matt's a great guy that i met on the jackson/charvel forum, and he's got a great rep...by all means if you can get a usa thru him for what an import would cost, go with the usa...they are better guitars than the imports...d.m.
