Custom Iceman LOOKALIKE.

Hi my first post here. Should be a 'good 'un'

I'm 15 and im a massive system of a down fan, i've been playing for 9 months (self taught so far) and i had some money lying around.

So here is my recently purchased iceman 'copy' (so im told.) I bought it for £157 inc postage and specs are:

GFS Hot Vintage Neck
Bill Lawrence L-500 XL Bridge
Licenced Floyd Rose Trem
Some mad J Yuenger copy paintjob (see pics.)
It has had some mild relicing done, much to my dislike (don't mind it on strats an stuff, but an ibby?!)
Bought as an unfinished project as it needs little bits here and there and the wiring done, my dad had a go, but he's never done one before. Gettin it done soon. Anyone know where i could get a vol/tone pot cover for it?

Now for some pics.

Some how this is part of the 'relic' look.

Genuine ibanez neck bolt plate number 892449, anyone know what its off?

This picture is off 'the bay'.

This feels like its going to play real nice after a setup, should sound good aswell, tremelo feels sturdy. Not bad for my first taster of the ibanez world, even if it is fake.

Whoa dude, nice guitar and all but those pictures will nuke people that have dial-up. You should post thumbnails.

But, yeah, very nice guitar. Why didn't you just get a real iceman?

Re: Custom Iceman LOOKALIKE.

Yeah i noticed that, phone takes them at like 2000+ res so i just upped the link, thumbs wouldn't work for some reason.

Thanks, i didn't get a real iceman because i didn't have the money for a set neck one, i hate the ICT after playing it and i've heard nothing but bad things about the axis buckers in the IC400's etc.. so if i did buy one of them it would have been like £250 is then money for the new pickups, this just seemed a sensible option, i wanted something with a floyd and the pickups are the same as what dimebag used to use so you can't go wrong. I definately wanna get it painted though, the paintjob was cool at first, but its getting less so each time i see it.

Just thought i'd add, I currently plan on doing two things to this guitar: Wizard 2 neck and a Swirl Paintjob. Just need to find somewhere that does the Swirling in the UK.

Re: Custom Iceman LOOKALIKE.

Thanks for the link. Just gotta get the money in for a Wizard II neck and the paintjob now.

Wow, £200 for a full swirl (is a clear coat that important? o.0)

Any idea where i could fine a cover for the volume/tone pots?

Thanks. Should be going off to KGB Guitars soon (my only local luthier, but they have a good reputation anyway.) full setup and wiring. Can't wait, once it's done i'll post a video up

Re: Custom Iceman LOOKALIKE.

It's been a while but I've got a couple of updates. I took it to KGB guitars to have it wired up, the volume pot was damaged so that has been replaced and the whole guitar is in full working order now and sounds brilliant, it's still desperately in need of a setup but I will get round to that. The other bit of news I have is that I've been doing some research and talking to some people in the know when it comes to Icemen. It turns out this probably isn't a copy and one of two things; an IC350 (made for a single year) with a custom paint job, or a one off from Ibanez which they have been known to do, either way, this has boosted the value of this guitar which I am greatly pleased about. Also, if it is possible, I would like to change the title and have this thread moved to the Ibanez 6 String Guitars section, thanks.

I think relic is just code for "not well cared for."

Hmmm, so they do. The brand/model of this guitar is still a mystery then!
