David Thomas Mcnaught

Hello *guys

Would like to know if someone here own or have been able to try a Mcnaught guitar. *Seeing *only from the pics of his guitars, I think he has done an excellent work. *That's the main reason I'm currently considering buying this guitar but not much info that I could get about it. *IMO it's because his price is so high. *So far I only know that he have two dealers : Legacy Music and Ed Roman and also a few topics about him show up on the PRS forum. * So I said to myself why don't I give it a try in here, the forum that I always look at since 2 years ago. * What do you guys think about Dave TM ( http://www.mcnaughtguitars.com ) ?

I saw them in person at NAMM last year, very nice work with great attention to detail. I thought they were the class of the show for a 'classic' type guitar. Unfortunately they were in Romans booth as he is the sole US distributor.

The fact that this company associated themselves with Ed Roman is ALL THE REASON NEVER to support them. Regardless of the quality, or lack thereof, of the McNaught guitars... glen

Guys,

Here's the links to view some of the nicest Mcnaught guitars ever built :

http://www.**************.com/home_dtm.htm
http://www.**************.com/galdtm.htm
http://www.**************.com/dtminlay.htm
http://www.**************.com/closedtm.htm
http://www.**************.com/pricedtm.htm

Many people say that Dave T Mcnaught and his only asistant who's name is Dave also are a pleasure to deal with, not like Ed Roman. *Just found out that Ed has dropped his other regional salesperson because originally, there were three : Ed Roman, John @ Legacy Music in Missouri, and a guy in Colorado. I think Ed wants most all the sales for himself because Legacy Music can only handle order from state bordering Missouri. * Other places in US and overseas have to order through Ed while you can order direct from DTM himself but only in full price.

Anyone interested in these guitars should really email DTM and indicate your DISPLEASURE with ER being the eastern distributor. Ed's resume can look good to a prospective luthier, involved in prodction who is not aware of his tactics and customer relations... glen

Unfortunately I think DTM is way too deep in the vipers pit to ever be able to get out. Did anyone take the 'factory tour'?? Very interesting stuff, but I sure didn't see much of that 'old world craftmanship' ER touts so much. You get the impression the tops and necks are hand carved but they're done on a duplicator, just like anything in Ibanez US shops are done.

You can go to John at Legacy Music if you don't want to deal with Ed Roman but it's a good advice from glen that "anyone interested in these guitars should really contactl DTM and indicate your DISPLEASURE with ER being the eastern distributor"

http://www.legacymusic.com

Do not contact him through e-mail ( salesmanager@mcnaughtguitars.com ) because his sales manager is Ed Roman ! *I think it's better if you contact him by phone or mail ....
