Dean Dime Series

Dean was supposed to be releasing an exact copy of Dime's lightning bolt ML; A limited edition of 150. I wonder if they'll still do it, as a tribute. Heck, I wonder if they'll release anything with his name on it, now. I think we'll all understand, either way.

I'd LOVE to have one the the Ltd. Ed. guitars! That would be really something to have, to remember him. I really wish I still had my Washburn Dimebolt. I'm sure the prices are going to up pretty high, now, so I doubt if I'll ever be able to afford one again.

Oh well, just thought that maybe a thread about his guitars might be a nice change from talking about the events that took place last night.

Jackson released the RR1, so maybe Dean will follow the same thinking.

The Dean ML was named ML because Dean's friend Matt Lynn(?) died of cancer, and he dedicated the design to him. Now it's even more tragic that it will also be associated with Dime.......

I think Dime would have wanted Dean to release the guitars he designed to his fans...

Yes, this is all very true. I know that Fender had to wait for the go-ahead, from SRV's estate, so maybe the legalities of it all will prevent Dean from doing it?

Re: Dean Dime Series

Yes, Dean still are making that limited run of 150 Dimebag models. They had already been made a while back. They made a strict run of 100 or 150 of the old classic dimebolt model (the blue lightning one). I also believe that Dean is going to carry on making a signature series. This is what I heard along the grapevine anyways. Because at the end of the day, he quit from Washburn - but I dont know how much copyrights they have on the Dime guitars?

Hopefully both Dean and Washburn will continue to make the guitars in light of what happened. So everyone can have the freedom to choose. I would always choose Dean personally - they were the original and best!

Its just a shame that only 6 out of that 150 limited run will reach the UK. Machinehead, Hitchin are getting all 6.

Re: Dean Dime Series

According to new information from MachineHead at Hitchin, the 6 guitars they are getting will be priced between £2400 and £2800! So they are'nt cheap by any means, but will be highly collectable.

Re: Dean Dime Series

Washburn had to pay a licensing fee to Dean to use the ML shape, so I don't think there would be any legal wrangling between Washburn and Dean.
