Dean Dime signature

Although I find Dean's capitalization on the death of one of metals last true keepers of the flame reprehensible I must admit I was impressed by the guitar. Great neck awesome pickups and really just an all around great metal guitar. However I do think a grand is a touch pricey for a chinese made guitar (I played the blue one with the lightning bolts on it.) My two cents.

Re: Dean Dime signature

as i have said before , they are very very nice . the whole made in china thing doesn't mean much .

yes 1,000 is expensive , you can pick the up as low as 750 blemished (how i got my razorback)

i wouldn't have paid a grand , i would have bought a US dean but at 788 shipped in case it was well worth it . IMO there aren't many guitars that compare to the quality and playablity of the razorbacks or dfh/cfh in the 800$ range . dropping 1 K is a different story as far as what your getting for how much your paying .

Re: Dean Dime signature

I've already got enough nice guitars... Perhaps I'll snag one when it shows up in a shop as a used instrument further down the line. I just thought it was a nice guitar.

Re: Dean Dime signature

I love the Braziliaburst version (flame maple top). One could buy the 79 series MLF with the Floyd Rose trem, swap the stock bridge pu for a Dimebucker, and you'd have essentially the same guitar without the cartoonish, KISS inspired markings on it. It'd probably be about $200 less new compared to the Dime version, after the bridge pickup swap.

I've seen them just about everytime i've walked into my local music store but never played one until recently, I played one briefly (lightning one), it played alright. I never cared for the body style but I must say they look pretty cool. They had one with flames that looked really nice.

yeah that is the far beyond driven model , or FBD for short . they are stickers and come off , the headstock logo is under the clear coat though .

and yes you can basically have the same guitar if you take an mlf and swap out the floyd and put a dimebucker in .

MAP on the mlf is 599 so lets say 600 . the FBD sells for i belive 899 MAP .

150 for a new floyd , and 80 for the dimebucker your up to 830 . that sticker and the little logo on the headstock works out to costing about 60$ and the floyd on the FBD is the ping upgraded version which is very nice but it is still a licensed model . that 60$ doesn't include paying someone to put the dimebucker in or putting the new floyd in , not that either are that hard but if you had to pay someone it would work out to basicaly the same amount.

Yeah. It's a fine guitar to be sure. The pointiest guitar I currently own is my Iceman. If I get into a decent metal band I may grab one as a secondary guitar.

Re: Dean Dime signature

I'd like to play one, I've heard decent things though, especially the high end models.

Re: Dean Dime signature

Maybe I'm spoiled by jackson and ibanez and the like, but i've always found the neck thick, clunky, and uncomfortable.

It just seemed like all the negative points of a gibson put into a guitar that needs a coffin of a case to trudge around. (not that explorers aren't...)

my 2 cents.

Re: Dean Dime signature

Wanted to check out a used MLF and checking again on those earlier comments for an update because they are 2 years old

- So besides the trem, pickups and logo-stuff no qualitative differences between an MLF and FBD ? I don't really care for the Dimebagg signature extra's, but would consider to put a decent trem in it if I can get a good price for a used MLF.

- I read these should have 'fast' necks so surprised by ShreadHead42's comment. Anyone else who can comment on the neck ?

Thx

I am not a Dime fan at all. However the fact that they are capitalizing on his name helps to perpetuate the myth of Dimebag as a hero for all time. I would be honored if after my death millions of guitars were sold in my name to adoring fans and players.

The Jackson Rhoads model is a similar situation. I'm also not a big Randy fan either, but his name lives on in music and in guitars. How cool is that? These types of signatures are trophies to our dead heroes, and their families, heirs, estates do make money from them...

since they were makin that guitar before dimebag died, i dont think they are using his death to sell them. im sure sales increased, but since they were already around before he died.........
