Item number: 180130552784
This is surely a joke?

Re: Do people actually buy these things?
While I agree the price of vintage gear has gone nuts, I can see how these would have value.
Imagine you have an original 1964 Mustang, and the
neck screws
are the only thing keeping it 100% original.
Look how crazy car collectors are when it comes to the correct nuts and bolts.

Re: Do people actually buy these things?
Come on Chris, who's to say these aren't just artificially aged ones anyway? I found some more costing $100. With shipping they came to $135. If some dude wants to pay that much for 4 rusty screws, he clearly needs a brain transplant. It's ridiculous.

Re: Do people actually buy these things?
Oh I understand they could be total fakes, but my example is how people get all goofy about vintage parts. I mean can you even authenticate something like screws?
I don't buy guitars to collect them, so it is hard for me to have that mind set.

Re: Do people actually buy these things?
There's no way to authenticate them, that's exactly it. People often sell artificially aged parts on the Bay and claim they are vintage. I just don't believe it. Now I know where I've been going wrong, though! I have boxes full of screws which I occasionally go through and throw out the rusty ones. Man, I could have been making a killing all these years!
I also saw a battered
Strat bridge pickup
yesterday for $700. Total junk. I'd want paying to take that thing off his hands.

Re: Do people actually buy these things?
Dee, it's all about the
tone
, the
tone
, the
tone
!
Seriously though, I'm sick of that word. That's one of the reasons I stopped reading Vintage Guitar Magazine. All they talk about is "tone". They think "tone" can only be had if one is playing a
vintage Strat
,
Les Paul
, or SG. Some fool from that magazine would be the type who would buy these screws, thinking it would improve their "tone".
I do, however, believe that age does help pickups to sound different (coil leakage, etc), but some of these people can get utterly ridiculous when it comes to vintage guitars and "tone".

That pickguard isn't even pre-CBS Fender! That's insane that they're asking that much.
