Ed Roman Custom Shop?

Hey guys & gals,
I just found this
on Ed Roman's Custom Shop site.
Does anyone know if he makes good guitars?
I usually play a Jem but have been secretly pining for this guitar almost my whole life!
See, I really dislike the standard Jackson RR models because the top fin is WAY too long. This prototype of Randy's is what they should have stuck with IMHO.
Any info on Roman or any other place where I could get one of these, please let me know. and yes, it's gotta have an Edge trem
Thanks!
Mike

Re: Ed Roman Custom Shop?

All I know about Ed is that his shop once quoted me $600 dollars (without shipping included) for a maple neck with a blank (no inlay) ebony fretboard. My custom builder guy made me a highly flamed maple neck with a cocobolo fretboard, custom abalone inlay at the 12th fret and abalone purfling, plus a custom headstock with an abalone logo for $650. Bottom line: I'm sure Ed's custom shop makes great instruments, but after I got quoted that price I was pretty much turned off completely.

You sir should talk to my custom builder. I bet he can build you that thing at a great price. Plus he can work with ya one on one and make sure that every single little detail is perfect. You can have him build an exact copy of that if youd like, Id suggest a lil custom inlay or exotic wood or something to make it your own, but that's your choice to make

If there was one word to describe Ed Roman, it would be this: Douche-bag

But to sum it all up he's a Homeless, baby eating lawn gnome in disguise:

Re: Ed Roman Custom Shop?

whoa....Roman's not getting too good of a review here....hmmm.
My sister in law lives in Las Vegas & I might be visiting there in the near/distant future...I'll have to stop into his place & check it out personaly.

Do an "Ed Roman" google search.
It's hours of reading fun (and disbelief at some of his antics) :0

If ya want a good laugh, spec out that guitar you want, and ask him for a price quote. Then contact me for my custom builders info and ask him for a price quote for the same specs. I guarantee there'll be a price difference of at least a grand and a half, probably more.

, I've never played one, but those Centurions look tasty. I especially didnt like the tone of the guy who spoke to me. As soon as he found out I was only interested in getting a custom neck (and not placing like a 5-7,000 dollar order) he seemed to lose most of his interest in helping me.

Isn't your custom builder someone who for the most part hasn't fulfilled most people on this site who have ordered through him?

Re: Ed Roman Custom Shop?

wow! I DID the google search which ultimately lead me back HERE to read all about Ed.... I trust everyone HERE alot more than what I saw on Ed's site.
I really don't have the cash for a new guitar at the moment but there are things "in motion" that may lead to me having the cash. And when I do I will NOT be giving it to Ed Roman!
Thanks for all your help my Jemsite bro's.
Peace!

Re: Ed Roman Custom Shop?

A few years ago I was interested in buying a Schon. I called Ed's, and said what I was looking for.
I stated that I would take used if there was one there. He then proceded to be an ******* and yell at me, telling me that "ALL SCHONS ARE USED"!!!

I hung up and that was the end of dealing with that douchebag.

You can also bet, that he will send an email to jemsite telling them to take this thread down, or be sued.

All I want is a Jem in the shape of Randy Rhoads White Pinstripe offset V.
