Eric Johnson Sign. Strat - NEW GUITAR DAY :))
Hi all!
These lovely strat arrived today. I'm amazed at how it looks and sounds. Pics don't do her justice. I love the wood (alder) structure. Pretty different than typical strat. EJ custom pickups- very noisy- classic style. Pretty fat neck which I find great, large frets, lovely clean sounds. I must tweak a bit to find my good distortion from that jewel. The action is high with 10-52s which make it pretty demanding, but I like more powerful tone then. It rings and bells. And LIGHTWEIGHT !! My Beck strat has much more weight (the same wood). I recommend it for anybody, Great classic like strat!

Absolutely beautiful...... congrats! EJ is the man! Nice JB model too! I notice color shift or something on the upper bout of your EJ???? Just a photo anomaly? Sure unique though!

nope- just a crappy camera ;] only 1,3 mpix
I just don't like spending money on gear I do not need (like all those posh guys with ther 7.1mpix and 1000 functions to do idiot-camera photos
. I'd rather save up and buy new guitar

Nice strats there!
I am just curious about one thing - Doesn't the EJ strat have a flatter
fretboard radius
than most strats? Technically it should be possible to set the action lower than for other strats, no?

Congrats man, I just sold my EJ, but it's a great guitar. I will probably pick up another one when I get more money

Great guitar and really a great value when you compare it to what the
custom shop
charges. I debated picking one up, but I already have 3 Strats and another being put together now.
Congrats

Very nice on both guitars, did the EJ come with 10's or 9's?

since you can adjust each saddle action individually on that type of bridge isnt the action irrelevant of radius?

Not exactly...
The bridge plate is still flat and the saddles only have so much adjustment. The EJ gets a 12" radius compared to the vintage 7.5" or the more common 9.5".

Yes it is flat, but my action is set pretty high. I like because of the more belly, powerful tone I can get. Great wood tone and sustain.

Ok, I was just curious if it was by choice, or if there is any reason why you can't set it lower. I am a big fan of higher action myself too...
