ESP FX400 spalted top?

anyone seen one in person? i'm normally not into the "extreme pointy" guitars but the spalted top and beveled edges caught my attention as did the EMG 81 & 60 combo and the price is $450 less than an Explorer (unless i want the white version which is a possibility- not sure why a white paint job adds another 4150 to the price?). i don't own an HH EMG equiped guitar so this would almost fit the Explorer and HH EMG bill...hmmmm
it seems i have gotten a new Explorer the past two Aprils but sold them by Xmas both years for one reason or another but not because i didn't like them. must be a seasonal GAS attack.

i like that about AMS even though i can easily get into trouble with it
i think for the $ it could be a nice axe too. how often do you see spalted maple tops for that price and real EMGs to boot?

Nice! I was looking for a hardtail guitar, and this one looks excellent. Don't think I'm a fan of the EMG's, but for the price, they could easily be swapped out. Nice find!

Though, I've never played a LTD before. Can anyone comment on the neck?

I know what you mean. I don't like the extreme guitars either, but that is a real nice looking axe. I thought the same thing about the spalted maple topped Warlock, too. I thought I hated the Warlock until I saw that version.

Re: ESP FX400 spalted top?

i need to check out the Warlock, i haven't seen that one yet. i LOVED the Warlock from my 80's youth Motley days but grew up before i had the money to get one and Motley went fruity. it is still kinda nostalgic to see the Warlocks though. doesn;t the guy from Slipnot play one?
Rich has a spalted maple topped RG in his used section that is sweet as can be and i've seen a few others from jemsite members that have just grown on me. i used to think the spalted ample was hideous but i start salivating everytime i see one nowadays.
i used to not like the poplar burl top on the S2170fwntf but now i find myself intriqued by that top.

Anyone get one of these yet? I'm curious to see what the back and heel look like. And, what the neck feels like too.

not sure? our stores still don't have them in stock and lots of stores don't have them listed but they are on the USA version of the ESP site.
