Prelude (before I was born):

1992 (pre-guitar):
- Casio keyboard - I never really got into playing it.

1994 (fasten your seatbelts):

1997:
- Aria Pro II Fullerton (HSS Strat-like) - Currently disassembled for pickup and bridge upgrades. Mods: neck finish, scalloped 19-22 frets, Gotoh locking tuners, LSR roller nut.
- Marshall VS-15 - Very sweet sounding, still use it as a practice/warm-up amp.

1998:
- Aria Pro II CS-2 (chorus pedal) - Obsolete.

1999:
- [GONE] Zoom 505 - Funny little pedal! I learnt a lot with it. I gave it to a great friend of mine.

2000:
- Ibanez RG470JB - Mods and pics here.
- Behringer Virtualizer PRO

2001:
- Ibanez EXB404WH - Mods: body and neck finish, EMG J pickup, Badass II bridge, GraphTech TremNut.
- [GIFT] Vantage VG-50R (combo) - A gift from a few friends. Obsolete.

- Marshall V-8240R - It has a stereo return! I use it as a power/cab for my rack gear. It is modded with a Sovtek 12AX7 preamp tube.

- Wesley Jasper-10 (perspex square guitar) - Mods: Seymour Duncan JB pickup.

I've had so many guitars, though I've only had a handful of amps. I'll think about it, but I've been playing since '72, and from '78 or so until the mid eighties I usually traded a guitar for a new one once every two months or so...

It's only realy the very good and very bad that seem to stick in my memory for some reason. There were those in between guitars that got traded but obviously weren't memorable.

What I do know though is that if I'd kept them all I'd have nearly as many guitars as the Wife has pairs of bloody shoes and you can't even trade shoes on!

Well, you gotta start somewhere. Compared to my first stuff, you got some really usable gear. IF i had had the knowledge i have now, my set up would've been the same. An Ibanez RG 3xx series with hard tail and a roland cube. Those amps are quite versatile and the tones are SOLID. I think il be buying one for my room eventually.

-Crappy classical that my Aunt gave me. I snapped the neck on that one while learning to play in primary school.

(1980)
-Not quite as crappy classical. Didn't snap the neck on that one.. but came close.

(1984)
-Ibanez Les Paul law suit. Super 70's and a maple fret board. Dropped it and wrecked the neck (are you seeing a pattern?) Still have the body.
-My amplifier at this stage was 50 watt Starforce thing that had built in Chorus & Delay, twin 10 inch speakers that I got from the Pawnbrokers. I eventually got my first Quad in 1989, a Baez 4 x 12 (a local guy made them and the brand was very popular in Newcastle, Marshall quality at local prices)

-Canora Explorer. Piece of crap but looked good... went through my Hendrix phase here and set fire to it but still have it.

(1990)
-Washburn ??? Strat style. HSS with Floyd Rose & Select p/u's. Sold.
-Marshall 50w Solid State combo. Blew it up on stage.. blue smoke and everything. Still have it.
-Epiphone Les Paul Custom still have her but she's not in great shape.
-Cort Gunslinger style. This had a built in distortion unit. Looked great, sounded terrible. Snapped the neck falling off stage

-MIJ Squier Strat, lefty.
-Onyx acoustic. Sold
-Epiphone Firebird... that was a waste of money. Sold.
-Fender MIM "Waynes World) Strat. Recently upgraded the pickups to JB jnr, duckbucker & Lil 59. This guitar sounds awsome through

GUITARS:

Hondo Les Paul copy (my first electric -- pink!) -- sold to pay for a drum kit.
Marlin Sidewinder (cheap Stratocaster copy -- red) -- smashed to bits because it was crap. Andy will tell you how bad.
Squier Katana (white) (kinda like a cross between a Flying V and a pair of boxer shorts... LOL) -- no idea what happened to this one.
1987 RG550 (Road Flare) -- I still have the body. Neck warped so I tried to make it into a fretless, which didn't work out.
1990 RG750 (Purple Neon) -- got stripped to the bare wood and is now retired.
2001 RG3120 (Deep Red) -- sold to pay for RG 20th.
2007 RG 20th (Road Flare) (currently my main guitar) -- it's sitting on it's stand right now with it's brother...
2000 RG7421 (Black) -- sitting on it's stand next to the RG 20th.

BASSES:

Grant SG copy (natural mahogany) (actually a great bass I was given by my brother, I only wish I could find another) -- another brother broke the headstock off
Squier Vintage Modified 70's Jazz (natural maple body) (bought last year -- it's a great bass).

AMPS:

Unknown brand 5w combo (my first amp) -- no idea what happened to it.
Various sh!tty combo's, including a Carlsbro Stingray 150w (truly awful) -- sold, even though it didn't work, the shop didn't know this and they gave me £100.
Samick 10w practice amp -- threw it out the window.
Marshall 10w Valvestate -- can't remember what happened to it.
Marshall JCM800 100w (model 2210 -- amazing amp) + 2 Celestion loaded cabs -- sold this setup in 1999 to pay debts.
Oh, and a weird Russian valve amp which I traded my violin for when I was 9.

Now I just use a V-Amp Pro and it sounds pretty damn cool for a £100 modelling amp, plus a stock RG 20th and a stock RG7421.

DRUMS:

Premier Olympic (Blue) -- sold in 1984 to a mate who covered it in newspaper cuttings.
1988 TAMA Granstar (White) .. loud as HELL. Great kit. Unfortunately my home makes a shoebox seem like a mansion, so there's no chance of setting it up. It lives in a cupboard somewhere.

That's all I can remember. I've had more gear but my memory has somewhat faded after almost 30 years of playing all kinds of crap gear. I still don't have an ass kicking setup, so all you young chaps with ridiculous setups and 58 guitars, think yourself lucky and stop complaining. OK?
