EVH Frankenstein!
I was at my local guitar store today and as I walked in I noticed one of the salesman playing what looked like the
EVH Frankenstein
by Fender. I stopped dead in my tracks and went on to ask him if indeed it was the 20,000 dollar EVH model. He said nope, its the 25,000 EVH model. We laughed then I asked him if I could fiddle with it for a minute. He was cool enough to let me take her for a spin while the boss was out. This guitar looked like it was through a war and played like an "old" guitar which was fine with me cause I like my guitARS broken in. This was one nice playing instument and the attention to detail was mind blowing. Right down to the authentic cigarette burns on the head stock and well worn neck. If I had the cash it would have been mine for sure. I'll post my cell phone pics up later tonight.

Re: EVH Frankenstein!
My local store has one. I didn't ask to play it, 'cause my wife was with me, and we were just passing. I was surprised how relic-ed it looked as opposed really being old and worn. It actually looked kinda crappy I thought, and had to laugh when I realized it cost more than my minivan!

Yeah... but nobody is ever going to stop dead in their tracks to give you a bunch of compliments on a minivan

Re: EVH Frankenstein!
I got invited to a local store late off-hours to examine one of these, and detail photograph it, play it, and take shots of my old replica along-side one of these EVH/Fender replicas.
That was quite a day - I put up a thread somewhere about this, I think, including a pic or two, if I remember right...

Yep, it's the same overpriced POS guitar Ed has been playing live. You do realize that you could get one made for about a grand?

Re: EVH Frankenstein!
There's that thread, in this forum area:
Click to jump to that thread - there are pic links...
... in case you want to compare.
(And mine, as I recall, would have come up to something around $1,000 at the time, and that included custom-ordering the Kramer neck, which was period-correct at the time I made it...)

And you could probably make one yourself for well under that! Eddie's guitar is/was not a POS - it was a fully functional, great
sounding guitar
that contributed significantly to making him and the rest of
Van Halen
very wealthy people!
It just looked like a piece of sh*t!

Lol....less than that
And now the latest is the SRV.
You know.......I'm just wondering if there will ever be a replica available without "cig burns" in the headstock
At first I was a bit annoyed by the "hugely overpriced" replicas that are coming out. But now I have come to realize that the reason I do not like the replicas is because I've never smoked cigarrettes
Just wait till the Vai-Evo replica comes out (complete with giant
neck joint
cracks
) I suppose I'll sell my house to get that one
