I guess you don't know the difference between offers and bids.

But reading that, it's just a prototype isn't it?

Anyone care to explain why it's supposedly worth $100,000?

Because it's had multiple pieces broken off it... then glued back together by a 1st grader?

Even if I had the money for it, I wouldn't buy it. All alleged "prototype" remarks aside, the fact remains that it was broken and glued back together.

Maybe you should read the story before making comments? It has never been owned by Eddie. No one has even suggested it was ever in his possession.

What would someone pay for the Green Meanie? Piece of junk? History? You decide.

You nailed it, when I saw the glue job, my first thought was that a 5-year-old did it. The glueing is a joke; it doesn't even line up. Are we to believe that a "Charvel employee" did that horrific a glue job? Was the "Charvel employee" the janitor maybe?

Also, the story says that Eddie "immediately" traded the one he got for a 57 Strat, so he obviously didn't want anything to do with the guitar, which makes it just some hack guitar that someone built which (should) have little value.

Not to mention that, besides the breaking, the thing is dinged up and junky as all get out. It's a surfboard, pure and simple.

"The combination of it's rarity, as well as, it [sic] connection between Charvel and Edward Van Halen makes it a priceless and historically significant piece of rock and roll culture". Uh, excuse me? From the story told, this guitar has no connection to Eddie at all. So then how is it historically significant?

Cause a couple of "stoners" made two of them back in "82" and now another stoner living in his "California dream" thinks it's a "Picasso" of rock history!

I wonder if he approached Fender, EVH, or Grover Jackson about purchasing it?

I mean if it had any real significance, one of them would jump on it.... right? Or maybe they did, but offered far less that 100k!

So the guy places it on the evilbay so he can gouge some fool! Who knows, maybe he's just deep in debt. But there's always someone willing to part with more money than they should have, and not enough brains to figure out a useful way to part with it!

Now I might be impressed if this guy donates 98% of the 100k to charity. But I just don't think that's the motivation here!

Hey, as a former 80's Stoner I resent that. I was never stoned enough to think I could get that money for a art class project.
