Explorer Copies?

Anyone know of good Explorer copies? I'm considering the Ibanez Destroyer but am oper to others. Aside from Epiphone, any suggestions? Gibson has outpriced themselves.

Used Gibsons are often pretty reasonable, I'd go with a used Gibson.

Used fixed bridge destroyers in decent shape really vary in price... but they are cool...

Esp makes some awesome explorers, and for the price the ltd 400 and 600 series feature great hardware ergonomics and value for money.

and used explorers arent too rare or costly but they dont play as well as you'd think

My personal pick would be the dan jacobs ltd 600, it has emg's w/the afterburner...real floyd... and neck thru.... for around 700-800 used.

Ibanez Destroyer all the way. You can pick up a used DT420 reissue on the bay for 350-500 bucks when they're available, Japanese made and top class. If i hadnt switched to custom guitars a few years back I'd still have mine. I had an Air Norton/Steve Special combo in mine and it screamed. Theres actually 2 on the bay now, one in parts and one intact.

I think I saw that Agile are selling Destroyer style guitars, check out them maybe?

I have a lota first hand experience with Agiles, they're definitely decent guitars, but considering that Agile explorer style is 330 and you can get the MIJ Ibanez Destroyer for like 20-70 bucks more...

The Hamer standard series were pretty nice for being made overseas.

I just got a DT-200 MIK on the Bay. $300 in pristine condition with a case. It sounds AMAZING, even with the stock INF pickups!
I don't think its 100% mahogany because it feels a bit too light. It's nowhere near as heavy as an Explorer. It still sounds great.
I'm looking to change out the bridge with a Super 3 and the neck with a PAF Pro.
The DT-420 looks to be the dog's nuts, though! Maybe the next one....

A decent Destroyer will set you back more than a used Explorer (possibly more than a new one) and be much harder to find.
