I was wondering how much would it cost for fender to build me a custom guitar according to my specs. Also, how long would it take?

Your best bet would be to call a fender dealer.
Also a list of specs wouldnt hurt either, be prepared to spend well over $2K, and wait atleast 3-4 months

Why don't you just build it from Warmoth parts? It'd probably be half the price.

The thing about Warmoth is if you go to sell it later you will more than likely lose a higher % of money than if you sell a used custom Fender, and even though Warmoth is licesened by Fender, their stuff definately is not Fender.
I didnt believe it either until I took a parts Strat with a real Fender neck in to a tech and he immediately knew the body wasn't a Fender by some of the small details.
People seem to really love USACG though, you'll have the same financial situation as a Warmoth, but I hear their stuff is made better. I will be buying my project Tele neck from them. THey are cheaper than Warmoth too.

USA Custom Guitars from memory. - both John Nash and Bill Crooke build their guitars from USACG parts - Nash in particular considers them to be about the best around.

Having said that, I have just about finished a Strat made almost totally from Warmoth parts (solid Indian Rosewood neck was why I didn't simply buy a Fender), and I have to say the quality is pretty high - the Strat body contouring is very deep and comfortable, and the neck is a cracker! It's worth remembering that Warmoth make and sell raw necks - they do good fret jobs, but they don't level the frets - they also don't roll the edges of the fingerboard - all that sort of stuff is in the hands of the guy actually building the instrument.

As far as cost on the Fender, I'd guess at more like $3500 - $4000 - I'm assuming that if you custom order a guitar from Fender, you're going to get hit with a MSRP, rather than a street price.

Your better off with a Melancon Pro Artist built to your specs. Looks like a Strat only better.
