Fender Mockup

Can anyone make me a mockup of a black fender strat with scalloped ebony board. It has pickgaurd and pickups the same color as the black Eric Johnson strat so maybe use that pic to start the mockup with

http://www.fender.com/products//sear...tno=0117702806

I am thinking about putting a scalloped ebony or maple fretboarded neck on my fender strat. I am leaning towards maple since I sort of want to lighten up the black finish.

However, since I don't intend on selling my Fender I feel like I can make it my own and not worry about resale value. So I may change the color of it later, maybe even add a veneer since I have skills in adding veneer to instruments. (Never done a guitar though and probably will keep it black for its life)

Add your input on what I should do, maybe half scallop or no scallops, quartersawn maple vs. regular maple. I just want to try something new and for some reason I've really wanted to do some scalloped fretboard action. Plus its cheaper to get a new neck than a whole guitar.

and yes it will be Warmoth

Re: Fender Mockup

cmon guys! Do you think I am retarded or something? At least tell me! haha
Also I thought of another thing to address, if I got maple should I do a vintage tint on it along with satin or just get it satin? I think the tint might look good with the aged controls/pickups and the sort of creme pickgaurd. However that adds about 30 dollars.

edit: I really don't need scalloping btw I was just playing with the idea

Re: Fender Mockup

Scalloping tends to be a love it or hate it kind of thing, so before you choose that you should try out a scalloped neck and see what you think. It saves you from having to change the board later. I wouldn't put an ebony board on a black guitar, but it's really only about what you want to do with it -- especially if you aren't concerned about resale value. If you are just looking for something different, maybe a custom inlay or something -- even though Warmouth won't do it for you.

Re: Fender Mockup

yeah I'm hoping to play a YJM in a few days, I am definitely not going to buy a scalloped neck until I know how much I love or hate it. I agree ebony on a dark guitar is probably a bad idea, I think vintage tint maple neck would look best on my fender. If I am not able to play a YJM then I will wait till I can to decide.

I may keep the guitar original and not paint it, then later get a different Warmoth body that would look good with my old fender neck.

Custom inlay wise it would be nice but I probably could never decide what to do on the neck haha
