fender strat

I have a fender that i never use anymore because the tremolo likes to go out of tune and i recently got an rg2570, i want a guitar with a gotoh tremolo so i've been thinking about putting one in the fender but i feel like i'd be killing resale value and kinda defiling my american strat, opinions?

Re: fender strat

Unless the trem is locking, then it will go out of tune when you crank on the bar. If you already have the 2570, then just let the strat be a strat.

Agreed! Don't mod your strat leave it as it is, strat is meant to be a strat Anyway I think it's a setup problem, the guitar tech in my area which is a fender freak setup his without going out of tune even if he's going divebomb with his strat, but it still goes out of tune after 4 or 5 dive but under normal usage it works really really fine.

Re: fender strat

Wouldn't locking tuners help that problem?

Re: fender strat

I've got a modified '74 strat that stays in tune perfectly.
Baggs Piezo bridge set to full float.
Sperzels
Ball Bearing nut
hs2/hs3/lil' screaming demon.

I don't care about resale though, I'll never sell it, even if it doesn't have enough frets.

it came with them, its a deluxe strat, so it has locking tuners and a dual fulcrum tremolo

Re: fender strat

Gotcha!
I'm not a strat owner so I was uninformed.
How is it that players like Yngwie and David Gilmour don't seem to have trouble with tuning issues?

I can't speak for Gilmour but Yngwie seems to change his after every song or so in a live situation so his tech can tune it back to neutral...

I saw him with on his Unleash The Fury tour back in May.

depends on how much they use the tremolo and usually as he said above me they change guitars so the tech can retune

The deluxe gets locking tuners and the two post trem, and will stay in tune with some trem use, but you start trying some Vai **** with it and the thing is going out of tune.

Try lubing the nut and check for any binding in the post.

Re: fender strat

You might be better off to sell it and buy one that came factory with a floyd.
