Fender/Wolfgang?

I saw VH in Atlantic City last Friday. They really kicked ass. Eddie was playing the Fender version of the Peavey Wolfgang. Are they out yet? Has anyone heard anything about them?

Re: Fender/Wolfgang?

They apparently should be unveiled later this year, with a MSRP of something around 3K, if memory serves.

I was at the same show. I was surprised he used the neck pickup so much, like 90% of the time. It isn't a terribly good looking instrument though.

It looks just like a Peavey but with that stupid headstock cutout. Looks like you could open a pop top on that thing.

Yes, quite ugly. That headstock has no business being with the "wolfgang" body. No geometric flow. Hopefully that is just a prototype headstock and not final build. Not that I would buy a ridiculously overpriced vh signature fender. $3000 msrp, @#$% that. Money is better spent on an ebmm axis.

I know there are fans of them, but all those EVH designed guitars are butt ass ugly to me. The EB, Peavey, and whatever Fender decides to release.

Do you mean he used the neck pickup for soloing or for everything? I imagine that would add some extra BROWN to his sound.

The headstock looks like a bottle opener... just in case I suppose.

That's not a prototype headstock by any means. Ed owns the design schems for the wolfgang shape and that headstock has a patent and it was also designed by Ed.

Personally, the EBMM Axis will never be the same as the EBMM EVH.

It'd be sweet if it was in fact a bottle opener. I mean I know it isn't, but it might come in handy . . .

Re: Fender/Wolfgang?

There are some pics of a white one in the Guitar World issue from a couple months back with Eddie and Wolfgang on the cover. Like has been said, looks the same as the Peavey with a stupid bottle opener headstock. I personally preferred the flat top specials over the archtops, but I doubt Fender will make the specials.

Jimmy, I agree, for me the switch placement (the main difference from the EVH MM) on the Axis could not be worse, and really takes away from the whole design of the guitar. Not sure why, it just does.

If it's like the Peavey Wolfgang, the pup selector is the opposite of a LP - up is the bridge, down is the neck.

BTW - I love the Wolfies (I have a USA special) but this new headstock is fUGLY!

That makes sense then. The pickup selector was pointing up all night.
