Fixed Bridge Guitar suggestions?

I'm deciding to go the Paul Gilbert route and simplify my guitar to a fixed bridge. However, the only fixed bridge Ibanez guitar that really struck me was the RGA series or maybe an SZ. And although I really like the RGA series, it just kind of has a bit too much of a "metal" vibe to it, if you get what I mean. I was wondering if you guys could give me some suggestions as to companies/guitars I should check out? I'd like the guitar to have an RG's playability, but nothing that just screams METAL, so no Jacksons or Schecters. And no Gibsons or Fender. I like Neil Zaza's guitar or the PGM series, classy and looking guitars. My budget is like $700 max, please help!

No Jackson, Schecter, Gibson, Fender? Hmmm, PRS maybe? You could also try finding some used Carvins. Maybe a semi high end Washburn?

I have the Paul Gilbert PGM-301 and I love it. Play it more than all my other guitars. I have been eyeing the Washburn X50 Pro FE but can't find one locally to try. I might have to blind buy it and hope for the best.

Keep saving and hope for a used 301... No point in anything else if you dont want gibsons, fenders or RGAs...

(tho my vote is really for the flat maple RGA, which doesnt look metal at all to me.....)

RGA all the way. I see them for $500-$600 used which is a steal for what they are IMHO. I'm also seeing the old stock SZ4020's selling for cheaper NOS than what they normally sold for. I own both and would have a very hard time choosing between them both, but would most likely end up with the RGA.

SC series from late 90's are fixed bridge and classy looking (especially the sc620 which i own ) the neck isn't rg thin but is very comfortable.
it sounds very very good (with aftermarket pups obviously) thanks to the 22 frets ebony 'board bolt on a mahogany very light body!

I would have to recommend the RGA121. I played a PGM 301 and it was nice but I don't think it's worth the extra price for the PG name. I love him but the guitar didn't feel as good as the RGA does to me. I'm not a fan of the SZ's because honestly next to their competition from other brands they fall short.
