floyd rose pro routing on TREMONTI SE?

ive been thinking about getting a tremonti se and then have it routed for a floyd rose pro. what are your thoughts on this? would it stay in tune pretty well? would i have to install locking tuners like some sperzels? the body isnt too thin for a floyd is that right?

Why would you do that, you'd basically spend $500 to put a trem on a $500 guitar, why not just drop $1000 on a nicer guitar. If you put the trem on the Tremonti, you're just throwing money away if you go to resell it

Re: floyd rose pro routing on TREMONTI SE?

well there are no singlecut guitars for a 1000 dollars with a good trem, i called PRS and they said the best guitar with a floyd like feel to it is going to be the TREMONTI II and thats going to be couple thousand i bet ,also i tried a singlecut at Guitar center and that cost couple thousand dollars and the trem wasnt even as great as a floyd. so i was thinking of taking the tremonti se to a professional that i know, and before i asked him he said he could do it around 150$ including setup on the guitar. so why not ehy?

It's your money man, but have you checked out the LTD KH 203 or 603 or Carvin SC90S?

Do it. Though. I got my SE because I needed a guitar without a trem.

Hey, if it does the job, I say do it. The PRS SE series are streets ahead of Epiphones for around the same money, and you are not screwing around with an expensive guitar to get what you want - not familiar with the ESPs, so I can't comment on them, but if they alrady do a Floyd equipped LP style guitar in this price range, it's worth checking them out in any case.

Cheers

Re: floyd rose pro routing on TREMONTI SE?

I agree with Elcid.
Also, why does it 'have' to be a singlecut ?
There's a reason why there aren't many singlecuts with Floyds.

Also,$150 sounds cheap to route a guitar and install a Floyd, plus there's the actual cost of the trem on top of the installation cost and you'll need a locking-nut with a Floyd.
Unless you're real gentle with it (and that kinda' defeats the object a bit)locking-tuners just won't cut it.

Doesn't sound like a particularly good idea at all to be totally honest with you.

I agree with everyone else, it's a terrible idea, find a singlecut guitar that comes as standard with a floyd, or broaden your tastes a bit. That's just a suggestion, what you do with it is ultimately up to you.
