Floyd rose, schaller or ping?

In the last few months I have heard that some guitars like for example bc rich mockingbird st have a "ping" original floyd rose and that it is not very stable, but I thought OFR were made in Germany by schaller, so whats the deal? is the ping one like the Floyd Rose II?

The Ping branded Floyd Rose is made in Korea under strict quality control from FLoyd Rose apparently. That's why they can put the Floyd Rose logo on them. It's an attempt to take some of the market from the licensed Floyd Rose makers.

are those as good as the schaller ones? just by looking at them are there any noticable differences?

I'm not sure, but personally if I were after a Floyd Rose type trem i'd buy the Gotoh licensed Floyd Rose. Cheaper than OFR and Schaller, but light years ahead in design I think. Gotoh make the Edge trems, and on their own trem they've given it the straight knife edge treatment, the whale tail profile is extremely low, and the trem arm holder is the best out there.

Oh, comes with locking studs too!
