It must just be me, because I think this stuff is pretty cool looking.
It's going to be a pain in the ass, and an all day affair, to go try out, but this summer that is going to be my mission.

Yeah the carvin one is goofy, but it's not that goofy if you get a lefty and play it upside down
Too bad the controls will be upside down too.

If you're a lefty who plays upside down, that a whole other area of goofy

Re: Gary Kramer Stuff...36 Fret 7 string
Once it becomes possible to fret a note without an incredible amount of pressure, or when the space between frets becomes almost non-existent, that's where I draw the line with fret numbers. 24 is enough for me, even then that only makes sense for me because it gives you the whole extra octave as a result, rounding it off nicely.
The fretless would be fun though. Mwuuuuuuuuuyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Would you intonate a 36

at the 18th fret?

Extra stings and frets dont always mean thinking outside the box. How many guys out there use 7
string guitars
but dont do anything more than chug away on power chords. They arent doing anything innovative, they are just playing tuned lower and stepping all over the bass players frequencies. I'd like to see more 7 and 8 string players actually use the bass strings to play basslines over melodies. Kind of like Chet Atkins did on Yankee Doodle Dixie where he is actually playing 2 songs at the same time.

Re: Gary Kramer Stuff...36 Fret 7 string
the frets are pointless after the 26th fret unless you resort to tapping...He at least could have a better designed body like the Sky Guitar to allow better access..

Re: Gary Kramer Stuff...36 Fret 7 string
I've played the Turbulence and the upper thrid octave is actually playable.. he's using a multi-radius fret job with very gauge and shaped frets on those to make it playable. The unfinished necks feel great.. the six and seven versions of that guitar are very comfortable to play.. the rest of his stuff I was interested in.

Re: Gary Kramer Stuff...36 Fret 7 string
i just got a new turbulence R last week and though i looks weird(just cus it's something new)it plays great and fits great.the shape is made to fit when playing seated.i'm thrilled with it.i'm going to get a simulator 6 string version too.i think the price is real fair too.

If i want that many frets then i'd go to Conklin because then it wouldnt look like something the prop depatement for MIB shrew up when they had a bad case of the deli belly.
