Gibson Explorer PRO

I saw the new Gibson Explorer PRO today and my mind keep on thinking about her when I came back to home

It has block inlay, a smaller body than normal explorer and flame maple top. Has anyone played it? How does it sound.

I wasn't able to play it because the music store was full of people messing around........

I haven't played one, but I really like the look of it with the flame maple top and block inlays. The 496/500 pickups (same as I have in my LP) should sound pretty good.

I'd consider getting one, given how much I like the Explorer body style and these particular specs, but for some reason the idea of a scaled-down Explorer body just doesn't seem right. If they made it with the full-size body, I'd be all over it.

BTW... Guitar Player magazine has a review of this guitar in the most recent issue... I think it was given an Editor's Choice or something like that. Lots of pro's in its favor... only real con was that the pickups may be too high output for serious clean playing (duh!).

Ive had a go! lol

Yeah they are sweet. Sound kinda like Les Paul Classics, nice and tight low end, crisp clean highs... Has a sweet rich tone when clean, but as mentioned before, would probably get a bit mushy for ''serious'' clean playing. although i was alt picking and fingerpicking some of the bach lute suites, and they sounded pretty damn nice. I guess it depends on personal preference, I didnt like the lil body tho...doesnt feel as it should...not heavy enough!
But no matter, my custom should be ready soon...which will make up for it... (bet ya havent seen a gibbo custom EX in a while! ...heh heh )
