Gibson Faded V

Anyone played one of these? Are they worth it or just junk with Gibson written on it?

Played one, didn't care for it, but I have a faded SG that's the cat's ass. Best $500 guitar ever.

I played a higher model flying v, not the faded v and I didn't like it. Deans are nice. I played the one with a spalted maple top.

If you're after a Gibson V i'd reccomend one of the older ones.
I have a '79 Gibson V and it's an awesome guitar! The tone on this thing is pure Heaven.

Re: Gibson Faded V

I'd go for an older Gibson as well. I played a new Dean Black Gold V recently and it was really nice, and very good looking as well. Sort of a clear black stain on a flame top with gold hardware. Cheap too; less than 600 I think.

Holy moley, JTM45! I had that same guitar in the natural cherry finish. I regret trading it for a Kramer, back in '82, but the Kramer introduced me to the Wonderful World of Floyd Rose. I'd trade my left pinky toe to have my V back again.

When i first got into rock music it was the iconic metal guitar but i was only 11 at the time and even though they were relatively cheap (compared to the astronomical prices they go for these days,if you can even find one!)there was no way i could afford one.
At the time Schenker/Scorpions,Accept,Saxon and those sort of bands were playing them and i wanted one sooooo bad.

I eventually managed to get mine about 3 years ago and it's f*****g awesome.
They never really made them in large quantities and more often than not when you see them for sale these days they've had the headstock snapped off and re-glued sadly. They've got a particularly narrow neck at the nut and that's their achilles heel.
Mine is 100% original apart from the fact that the previous owner fitted pickup rings(argggghhhhh!!!!!).The rings look fine but guitars like this one are always better when they're 100% stock imo.
