Question

Gibson Flying V,tremolo?

Hey all...

I`m the proud owner of a very nice Gibson Flying V faded/3 humb., but i want to add a tremolo on it. so, does someone knows if i can add a tremolo on a tune-o-matic bridge?

Happy new year all, and keep on rocking

I'm not an expert on this, but doesn't Kahler make a model that doesn't require the spring routing?

I would've gotten the V that Ibanez makes. It already has a tremolo and IMO it looks better!

Re: Gibson Flying V,tremolo?

It's not the most attractive option visually, but...

http://stetsbar.com/stop.tail.html

"Our most popular item, the Stop Tail model is designed to fit guitars such as the Gibson Les Paul, SG, ES 335, Flying V and other guitars that share the common Gibson specification for stop tail positioning.

All the hardware to the rear of the bridge pickup is removed and the Stetsbar simply mounts directly to the existing stop tail bushes.

Re-string, intonate and play! And remember, the Stetsbar requires no additional routing or drilling - your guitar will restore to absolutely original condition if you want to move the Stetsbar to another instrument."

The gallery on their website has a photo photos of them installed on Flying Vs. http://stetsbar.com/gallery1.html

Do want to go dive bombing and flashy tricky stuff or do you just want to wiggle it a little Shadows style? (the tremolo... minds out of the gutter please!)

https://www.activemusician.com/item--MC.086-8013-003 a Bigsby bridge should do the trick. Shouldn't be to hard to install, theres a video on youtube that shows you how to add a similar model to tele's.

Re: Gibson Flying V,tremolo?

You can get bigsby "ez-mount" plates which require no routing, not sure if it would work on a v though...
