As all guitarists suffering from G.A.S know, we have our up days and our down days. Today has definatly been an up day for me.
At 9pm tonight I landed this Epiphone LP custom for £155 YAY!!
It's nine years old so the gold is wearing off the hardware and the binding has aged to cream......Just the way I like it !! I can go and pick it up this week too which is cool.
and to make things even better........................
My Dad found one of his old
power amps in his workshop and said I could have it to restore. It's a hand wired 100w
power amp made around 1968 with a set of EL34 (from early 70's). I'm gonna take it to my amp guy asap and get him to check it out and put a kettle lead power socket on it.
My Dad used to run 4 of these chained together when he was touring (he's only got the one left ) and he had them had built by a guy called Brian Atkinson (RIP). It'll be perfect for powering a 4x12 with all the signal coming from my effects pedal. I'm confident it'll add a real warmth to my signal chain.
I've found a bay dealer who can do all kinds of Tolex to cover it with (inc snakeskin ) and I think I'll put checker plate across the front although I'm sure I'll show pictures when I've finished.
