Guitar advice...

Hi all -

So i am looking to pick up another guitar and i need help in deciding which is better in terms of build quality...

Ibanez JS100

How do the trems compare (EdgeIII vs Floyd Rose)?

Thanks

Re: Guitar advice...

depends the edge on my jem 55 was **** so i changed it for a gotoh floyd also the js is 200 quid more than the olp with that extra 200 quid you could either get a gotoh floys much better than other "licenced " floyds or get some real nice pickups id go for the olp and do it up rather than pay 200 quid more for some guys signature on a guitar

thats my tuppence worth

go play em both and decide yourself tbh though

Re: Guitar advice...

The JS100 has the bloated price quality, that's always lame.

Re: Guitar advice...

Does it necessarily have to be one of these two models? I've played a JS100 and while it was pretty decent, there are better guitars for the money (about $700 street price around here). It plays well and sounds good, and the model I tried was very well built, it's just not a ton of bang for your buck. Better off getting a good S or RG, new or used.

As for the OMP I know nothing about that, so I can't offer any advice

Thanks. I just played a js100 and js1000 and besides the pickups (which i would change anyways) and the trem , it wasn't worth the substantial increase in price.
However every rg and s model i played i kept going back to js100/1000. It feels soo different and better. The only guitars i tried that i liked were the rg350mdx and s520. So i guess add those 2 to the list.......doh!!!

Re: Guitar advice...

The is a huge difference between the JS100 and a JS1000. The wood (although it's still basswood) isn't the same. The 100 also doesn't have the high pass filter and the coil tapping capabilities the 1000 has. Personally, the neck on the 1000 feels different than that of the 100.

I can't understand why you'd want to replace the pickups on a JS1000, but to each their own I suppose.

For what its worth...My JS-100 has the coil tap standard as I though all did. The neck on my JS-100 is definitely a bit thinner than my JS-1 though.

I couldn't remember about that but, now that you mention it moebius, the 100 does have the coil tapping but not the high-pass filter.

To me the neck on a 100 never felt right for some reason. The interesting thing is that the necks on my prm, crystal planet and 1000 all feel exactly the same
