Great guitars, but angled humbuckers always look wrong to me.

Re: hamer diabalo pics

This is a similar body design to the californian. The reason the neck pickup is angled is the californian had a 27 fret neck extension. Ive always dug these guitars but why do you have the strings strung the wrong way around the tuning post?

So that's what a Californian is. I know someone that has one but I didn't know the name of the model. It does have 27 frets. It's a nice guitar.

I've always liked Vernon Reid's Hamer. I think his is a custom Chaparral but I could be wrong. I read in an article that's what model his guitar is but I was told different by someone who knows about Hamer guitars. His has the cool boomerang inlays.

Yeah the californian also had a jem style input jack. Interesting guitar looks a little weird but cool neck joint etc.

Are the Californian's still being made? Just curious to see the 27 frets if there are any pics or links to check out. Sounds like a great guitar, but 27 frets is just pure brilliant!
